Actually pleased we are out. Despite what anyone says, the FA Cup is nothing more than a distraction and we simply don't have the squad to compete on both fronts. Staying up is far more important and better we concentrate all our efforts on that and less game swill end fresher players and potentially fewer injuries/suspensions.

genome Federici awesome tonight.

Agree he seems over his wobbly phase. Also surprised Brian didn't throw on POG into mix for last 10 or so. What goes on in Brian's Brain is anyone's guess

Disagree Zac, not many Prem team's will punish us the way Utd did and we had a few chances still.

First half of the season.

Yeah, like we played anything like that in the first half of the season. We were dire, that performance was not.

You're wrong Ian.

We played exactly like that first half of the season. Always got tired in the second half and when we did lose it was always to second half goals. The performances got worse the closer to Christmas we got simply because morale was low.

lolwut very happy with kelly and hunt. everyone else good, although gmac was a bit meh

No mention for the previously much maligned Feds who was stupendous tonight?!

Thought he went without saying. Highlight for me was his double save in the first half, both low to his right.

With Zac totally on this.

Just don't understand the point of us doing that tonight. It played out exactly like most of those other games. Now we go into a very important league game with (hopefully) a change in formation.

Agreed completely with both of you. I'm a little tired of seeing us trying the sitting back, working our socks off kind of approach. It requires alot of fitness and discipline to work, and the smallest of errors you get punished. Watch almost any other team play at Old Trafford and you'll see that they try and retain possession alot better than we did & it's alot more effective than running around all match. Also thought we should have made changes earlier in the game, some of the players looked shattered towards the end.

Oh come on you guys, criticising us after a performance like that?!? I'd say we played way better with 4-4-2 and were more defensively solid than we were playing

that way in the first half of the season.

Totally with Ian on this, this game did not matter and our second-string put in a very good performance.

Back to the league we'll be 4-5-1 with Pog up front and Pearce at the back.

Or more likely a 4-2-3-1 against Wigan.

On to the next game.

Left to concentrate on the league but with a decent enough performance that doesn't sap morale. Job done, I'd say.

Thought the whole team made a match of it tonight.
Cannot fault anyone although we looked weaker after Legs went off. (Of course RVP coming on didn't help!)

I expected a rout this evening but we really made a game of it.

The much maligned Feds, Ledge and Jobi played very well.

Proud Royal tonight.
Well done Reading and play 442 against them northern buggers on Saturday.

Must other teams don't give them the trouble we do.
