interesting to see them drone on and on about supposedly derisory offers in "today's market" for just about average 29 year old strikers with less than decent goalscoring records, whilst they bitch and moan about being asked to pay a substantial fee for a relatively young English centre back who still has potential to improve.

Perhaps it is they who struggle to understand the current transfer climate.

Reading Football are delighted to confirm that striker Sam Baldock has signed a three-year deal with the Royals, moving to Madejski Stadium from Brighton & Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee.

Sam, who turned 29 in March, has more than 100 career goals to his name to date and he will take squad number 9 in Paul Clement’s Royals squad, committing his future to Reading until the summer of 2021.

Our 4 forwards for the season have cost about 4m combined, which kind of puts things into perspective a bit when you see Leeds spunking 7m+ on Bamford

In fact, take Aluko (what a weird signing that was) and Ilori out and we are proper bargain basement - could have a keeper, a back 4 and a first choice midfield all free transfers or academy
