Isn’t it 20% of capacity for away fans in the cup, unless the club/authorities have issues with the way a ground is segregated? If so then Reading should get 1300 tickets.

Whatever they get will sell out to ST holders long before general sale. Presume the club will do 1 ticket for every ST rather than ST holders able to buy 2 or more tickets per ST.

Woeful TV picks btw. Kiddeminster will feel very hard done by.

From memory BBC/ITV still stagger a load of KO times so still not 100% confirmed when we will actually play but hoping it's still Saturday 3pm slot

so predictable and clearly following the greater audience mindset.

Still hope for a "red button"?

I mean who really wants to watch Hull v Everton? Not even Everton supporters want to watch it! You'd think with Kiddeminster being the lowest ranked side left in it against a struggling Championship side would have been perfect for the Friday night slot. Real chance of an upset.

Lmao, they go on about the magic of the cup but when they get the chance to show it, they pick all Prem/Championship ties (apart from Swindon).

Glad we'll remain a 3pm kick-off but that £85k broadcast fee is pocket change to all teams picked, Swindon aren't in the best shape right now so it will be good for them but for the non-league teams like Kidderminster and Boreham Wood it would have been massive.

No wonder people are falling out of love with the FA Cup.

Seems strange they wouldn't have the lowest ranked team on telly, especially as I expect we'll put out a very young team. They'll be right up for it too.

Hoping to get tickets once it's confirmed, I love old terracing.

West Ham v Leeds and United v Villa are both being played again a week later. Only difference is the Cup game will probably feature much weakened line ups. Awful decision.

Yep, what a turn-off. Shan’t be bothering with any of them (with the exception of an occasional sneek at the Swindon game to see how many Citehs other first team have put past them).

The lowest ranked team would’ve had the whole nation behind them.

It does say a lot that the BBC will clear their peak-time Monday schedule to show an U23 clash.

Don't the BBC have a record of not showing something like only 2 of Man Utd's last (insert large number) of FA Cup ties?

I'm sure that was a long running stat for a while

Edited to add: I've found an Independent article which says:

Man Utd's streak of 58 consecutive FA cup matches broadcast live on television will come to and in January [...] ending a run stretching back 12 years since 2005

That article was from December 2017, so a few years ago, and not specifically BBC focused, but still proves my point.

It was utterly ridiculous several of those games getting on the telly as well eg. ManU at home v 2nd, 3rd and 4th division opposition.

Unfortunately it is a by product of all Premier League games being on pay channels - as a result when the Cup comes round the free to air channels think that everyone would want to watch a "Premier League" game, when in reality those who want to see those type of games will either already have Sky/BT, go to the pub or be happy with MotD - unfortunately, as a result any tie that doesn't have a PL side in, doesn't stand a chance (unless there is a "big club" down on their luck and in the Champ) even though your average fan would find our tie more appealing due to the story behind it and the chance of a shock.

Very strange though that ITV have gone from showing an all non-league tie on Monday to ignoring those that are left.

Sadly you also have to factor in the fact that the armchair fans have been completely suckered into the idea that any game not involving premier league clubs is not worth watching.

Yeah, true I guess. ITV especially though are driven by maximising advertising revenues - they will naturally pick games with big fan bases who may well tune in - hence West Ham, Leeds, Arsenal, Man City being picked by them. Their "random" pick being a London Derby where a shock is possible, is also an understandable shout.

It's always the BBC that disappoint here, they are less required to chase ratings so they could be more interesting with their picks - fine if they want to show the Man Utd game but of all the other ties - Hull v Everton is just dull.

If Chesterfield had been at home to Chelsea then that would have been picked but as not, then our game is the next obvious choice in my mind - you'd even expect Port Vale v Brentford, Charlton v Norwich or Swansea v Southampton to be more interesting* than the game they've picked. They've literally gone down the list of "big clubs" and chosen the ones that aren't the PL team at home to a lower league side - no thought to it at all.

Think international broadcasters also play a huge role in the decision making. They're hardly going to spend hundreds of millions in broadcasting fees with the view of showing Kidderminster Reading.

Why would ITV or BBC care in the slightest about international broadcasters? They don't get that money.

International broadcasters can show whatever games they like. They aren't limited to the ones shown live here. The Manchester United selection is also terrible for both the Asian markets, and the USA, being in the middle of the night for one, and in the middle of the working day for the other.
