Stranded
Royal_jimmy When will the date and time of the game be announced? Man City are also at home that round and can't play the same day. Hoping the games not on a Friday or Monday night as I probably won't be able to make it. Saturday night game would be preferable

TV picks should be known by end of the week.

Important to note Manchester United play Charlton in the Carabao Cup QF tomorrow. If they win that then the SF 1st leg is scheduled for w/c 23rd January which probably eliminates the Friday.

karbota would love to have had Wrexham in the 4th round, BTW who is their manager???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

He's a cup show pony manager. He did brilliantly twice with Bradford in cup competitions but what's he achieved anywhere bar that? Wrexham are a big fish in non-league so would be expected to be up there. Flopped at Charlton and Bolton who are around the same sized clubs as us.

Not having any of that - utter nonsense.

Colchester - kept them up when favourites to go down and then promoted to Championship following season. Some feat that at Colchester.

Charlton - took over from Pardew at the start of Charlton's demise, got them into play offs then fell away following season.

Bradford - Got them promoted out of league 2, then got them into play offs in league one the following season - adding on that incredible cup run success reaching a final, and in fa cup knocking out Chelsea.

Bolton - got them promoted to Championship whilst under embargo. How on earth can that be classed as a flop. Dreary me.

Sunderland - who would not fail at that club.

Wrexham - leading a charge to the Football league plus into 4th round of fa cup.

That good enough for you? Not many managers can top that in the time he has been manager.

There you go, its Parky of course a Reading Legend and the next Reading FC manager.

He either gets Wrexham promoted and then gets bundles of cash to move them quickly through the lower divisions, or he doesn’t get them promoted and gets the sack. Neither scenario really sets him up to take over here in 2 or 3 years time….

Reckon he'll be gone either way. If they go up they will likely give him the boot and spend money on an upgrade to fast track them up the EFL. Took Parky about 4 years to get Bradford out of league 2 with the biggest gates in the league

South Coast Royal Good memories of the 1-1 there under Coppell when he picked our cup team.
Seasons tend to roll into one for me at times but weren't we 3-0 down in the replay after about 10 minutes and Bryn hit the bar near the end when a goal would have made it 3-3 ?

I'm hoping for a kick-off time before Sunday as we are away for a week from that Sunday.

Yeah we had a calamitous start. Brilliant game.

I was at it, sat in the Reading end. You actually got battered for the majority of the game.

Shouldn't have ended as close as it did. Utd had the reserves out so assuming you did as well

Bradford may have had big gates , and still do, because of their ticket-pricing being lower than most clubs.

Ronaldo came on in the 89th min  and Rooney with about 10 mins to go

Vidic
Evra
Scholes
Giggs
Carrick
Tevez
Ronaldo
Rooney

So 8 of the usual starting 11 didn't start (or barely played)

Also the 3 most used (by min) sub players weren't used

Nani
Hargreaves
Anderson

Well done. Most of us here were at it too, including me. I don't think we got battered the entire game at all.

You don't come from 3-0 down to a whisker from 3-3 being battered most of the game.

Let’s not forget Reading also made changes with the likes of Frederici, Bikey and Oster all starting the replay so these arguments all seem a bit pointless really. Anyway the ManU team that started the replay that night would still be comfortable in the PL whereas smaller PL club’s “weaker strings” would be unlikely to survive.

Of course you can. I thought it was close until I rewatched the game

Plenty of scorelines can look flattering. City absolutely battered us 6-3 earlier in the season!

In reality, it was a pretty even game after the early howlers from Adam Liability. I've just watched them back and I'd forgotten just how bad they were.

Just after the 2 minute mark in this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPxBikbaEQs

In fairness to Federici, he keep us in the game at Old Trafford.

In his early days he certainly was - that Man Utd game and away at West Brom immediately spring to mind, as well as two blunders in a week (home to Stoke and away at Chelsea at the start of McD's PL season).

But even when he had more experience there was always the capacity for a monumental blunder - qv Wembley FA Cup semi-final.

On the other hand, the year we got promoted he kept the most clean sheets in the league and won POTS (I think).
