You realise that was billed as out u23s but was realistically a bunch of 17 and 18 year olds don't you, given who was in Spain? And whilst Torquay are having a rough time their first half team was full of players with multiple apps in the Football League and National League?

I remember our kids losing 5-0 to Basingstoke in a friendly a few years back. My mate lost his marbles next to me at half time when we were 4-0 down, I thought I can be irrational but it's pre-season FFS.

I for one genuinely cannot believe that a patchwork youth side made up of teenagers has been thoroughly beaten by a non league men's side in a pre-seasoon fitness exercise while all the best players are off with the first team in Spain.

Especially as the academy teams seemed to struggle in the develooment league against their peers last season.

The mystery left-midfielder is definitely not 6 feet. Seemed plausible to be Tariq from what LightwaterRoyal said, and facially he looks like him from the Chelsea video RG30 posted. Actually shook hands with him after the match, he walked over with James Oliver-Pearce, but didn't get the chance to ask who he was. He reminded me a little of Danny Loader. Pretty stocky with decent feet, but not lightning fast nor what you'd describe as a particularly tricky winger either.

If anyone was wondering about Tyler Bindon, he's apparently an 18 year old defender from the LAFC Academy (that's the other, not Galaxy, LA FC).

Yep, as mentioned he played centre-midfield, but looked more of a centre-back to me. Decent enough, pretty mobile and put in some good challenges, but some of his passing was a little wayward. His Mum and Dad were at the game which was quite sweet, took a photo of the three of them for his Mum.

Wouldn't write either triallist off, but didn't see enough to be disappointed if nothing materialises.

Is it linked to our situation? Obvs we could field a team but do wonder if we pulled it as just likely to get smashed and not have a manager for the game. Also maybe have players lined up who couldn’t play so little benefit in having the game

See online that it is linked to issues surrounding flights leaving southern Spain.

You may possibly be right though, expect it is a number of factors.

The Robins were due to meet the Royals at the Robins High Performance Centre tomorrow (Wednesday, July 12th at 12:30pm), however due to a late revision to the Royals’ pre-season schedule, the Berkshire-based side will be unable to fulfil the fixture.

The Reading Chronicle understands that this is due to travel distruption back from the training camp in Spain, with some players not returning until Tuesday due to cancelled flights.
