Snowflake Royal It'll all come down to whether they keepgoing to the end, after they've already been promoted. Having to fit in another couple of games on most other teams may play a part too.

We were 3 points ahead of them at this point, so they have to finish stronger than we did.

Not to mention that we'd played 29 games by late January, by now we'd got through about 34 games, so they've got to fit a lot more into the end of the season... and we picked up 11 out of 15 points in those 5 games.

Agreed. What was so remarkable about the 05/06 squad was the way that they kept on relentlessly pressing for wins, even when things were done and dusted. That takes a certain type of mentality, which is proving to be extremely rare.

League 1
Birmingham 120pts

After 29 games in 2005/06 we were on 72 points, so currently 3 points ahead of where Birmingham are right now.

They're going to push it close, somewhat unsurprisingly given the resources they have.

A shock at the weekend could set them quite a way back given we got somethingike 12 out of the next 15

Birmingham have the same record as Leicester last season at this stage - points wise.

On positive is all the sides with the most points (greater than 62) after 29 in all Football League divisions since 2004-05 have slowed down in the final seventeen matches of the season.

Stansfield will be a big loss for Birmingham, hopefully will be what kills off any talk of breaking the point record.

Yep, a lot of that was down to the regular target setting sessions they had with the performance analysts from Catalyst. They kept challenging themselves right up to the end.

Right lads, I know you're promoted, and you've won the league, but Murty is the only regular who hasn't scored, so get your butts out there and set him up something on a plate!

Trafford equalled Steve Death's 11 consecutive clean sheets in Burnley's last game, so I assume at some point he breaks the EFL record tonight if they keep out Wednesday?

I guess so but the goal Death conceded in the last game he conceded (away to Rochdale I believe) was right at the start of the game, around 5 minutes.

Well, whatever minutes Trafford is at, Death now only has the 4th tier record. It was a good run I suppose.

Not quite that simple. The last match of the run, of which 5 minutes or so count in the record, were at the start of the following season, and in the third tier.

How long did Death go without an opposition player scoring... the goal to break the run was an OG wasn't it?

I was at the game V Brentford which finished 2-2 but can't remember anything apart from us equalising near the end; think it was 1-1 at HT so a few mins added on.

They're still three points behind us at the same number of games - game 30 for us was the 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace. Worth noting, that was a month earlier in the calendar year - as the current season is more spread out than the 2005-06 season.

EDIT: Our run-in from this point was:

Crystal Palace (A) - D1-1 - 73pts
Norwich (H) - W4-0 - 76pts
Crewe (A) - W4-3 - 79pts
Southampton (H) - W2-0 - 82pts
Sheff Utd (A) - D1-1 - 83pts
Luton (A) - L3-2 - 83pts
Preston (H) - W2-1 - 86pts
Burnley (A) - W3-0 - 89pts
Watford (H) - D0-0 - 90pts
Wolves (H) - D1-1 - 91pts
Leicester (A) - D1-1 - 92pts
Derby (H) - W5-0 - 95pts
Cardiff (A) - W5-2 - 98pts
Leeds (A) - D1-1 - 99pts
Stoke (H) - W3-1 - 102pts
Sheff Wed (A) - D1-1 - 105pts
QPR (H) - W2-1 - 106pts

Birmingham 118pts

Am I alone in thinking that after Birmingham beat their closest rival today to keep their run going that it's time for them to kick back and relax because promotion and the championship is in the bag? Take some time off guys! How about some team bonding events with loads of heavy drinking involved?

We're still 3 points ahead of them in comparison, which is mental considering they win almost every game.
