Bowman's Quiver I thought this was the Eircom League's close season.

Yeah it is. League ended Nov 17th 2006 and resumes on Feb 26th. Bennett has been back in pre-season about a week. TBH, players look after themselves fairly well in the off season so its not a huge factor in the price IMO.

Ian Royal
royaldownunder if he's any good, 200k is taking the piss!! - Cork got ripped off by us with Doyle, they won't do it again if they've got any sense!!

Mr Mad is a business man, Our club is a business. You get nowhere in business paying more than you have to for something. We are building up to the lowest price we will have to pay for him. If we believe this will be more than we are willing to invest on him being a success at our club we will drop the interest.

That is how it works. Not "oh he looks good, lets chuck em a hundred grand more than we think it'll take to land him to make sure we get it over nice and quick for the fans!"

Some people really are morons.

Chill out Ian

These comments sum at exactly why women should not be allowed in football grounds. They know nothing about the game and comments like this are degrading and sexist to men.

sounds like a really stupid thing to say that encourages Cork to refuse offers they would accept if they thought we might walk away.

Or it unsettles the player enough to make Cork keeping him an inviable option...

They're not. They practically give their best players away.

Huh? To quote the article: "We're not a selling club, and we've proved that..."

Blimey, QED, indeed.

So Bennett hasn't played competitive football for over two months? I read somewhere that's he's not even returned to training but gone "on holiday". Players may look after themselves well enough these days but he still isn't match fit by any standards - never mind English Premier League - and probably wouldn't be for a month or so.

That doesn't reduce his value per se but it does mean there's little point in Reading paying over the odds for him because he isn't going to be available for selection releastically until at least the middle of February and probably later, injury crisis or not.

Being that Brum have just rejected 6 million pound offer from Wet Spam do you think that we would go in with more?

Do you honestly think that Upson Is worth 7 million?

Who cares. Sign Upson instead of messing about with some £200k unfit Irishman, who, at the age 25 is still playing non-League Celtic football.

Premiership, my ars*.

I can only assume that is a poor fishing attempt.
