Vale, Steve Sidwell

I don't think Steve will be bothering to look at this thread now, so all the personal tributes are wasted.

The man is history now. It's time to look forward.

Gunnarsson's contribution to recent games was far more impressive - guts, determination, vision - Reading can and will do better without SS. Farewell, then.

Reading_Royal Chelsea could loan him back to us then we wouldn't have to pay any of his wages! result!

The team that loans a player usually pays his wages. So we would be paying 50k a week for a player that was only 8k a week this season. Good work!

they only pay a proportion though....

We could get him for 20k a week having had him reject the chance to play for us for £25k a week....

So why is he having a medical at Chelsea ? Are they subcontracting for other clubs these days ?

Official site all but confirms it is Chelsea btw.

Loads of places. Currently on the banner on SSN - stating they understand he is having a medical there today.

Replacing the SSN banner about Leroy's arrest presumably ?

The old get out clause, replacing proper investigative journalism!!

It may well be that Sid DOES go to Chelsea and that this story is true, however, simply repeating a rumour often enough seems to mean that that rumour has become fact.

There are many who'd do well to remember the part he's played in getting us where we are today. Thank you Steve Sidwell and all the best for the future.

I did start a new thread with these but then I thought I'd probably get into trouble with the Hob Nob police:

Maybe completely barking up the wrong tree here.. but on the official site it has a look back at Sidwells career.

The last picture is him 'back at highbury'???

Could he be on his way back to Arsenal? realisticly they are a top four club..

Maybe me putting 2 and 2 together and making 5 but you never know??

Will Sidwell get booed on his return or recieve a deserved round of applause?

I would expect the same as most ex-players. Warmly received prior to the game but given stick once the game starts.
