I agree with you there. I don't know if it's a tactic or just him being sh!te at corners. The one he didn't hit straight to the man, was the one that utilised the aerial prowess of...James Harper from the edge of the box.

It wasn't just Oster with poor delivery, Shorey was very poor today.

Hunt misses two really good chances, one of which was nearly a sitter. I'll take the draw but it's down to Hunt that we didn't win it.

I'm not sure if that Ref was that bad or that he had some kind of mental collapse at half-time.

A forgettable game for all concerned.

Hunt's howlers used to make me chuckle but he's costing us points. The only alternative is also to leave the London Irish goal posts out for him. Shame cos his work rate is massive but he just can't finish it off.

Yes, i'd have settled for a point before kick off and the other results went reasonably OK.

Just annoyed and appalled by the officials. Maybe i'll be proved wrong by MOTD but the second yellow was barely a fould and the offside looked the worst offside decision since that York cup game years ago.

will I watch MOTD tonight? My rule is I never watch if we lose. We got a good point, but we'll be on last for sure.

more musings:

Villa are beginning to piss me off. They do the double over us since Xmas then lose to everybody else. They are at home to Bolton next week, plus have Brum at home too. Carew has just gone off injured at OT :x .

West Ham are also annoying me. They are Bolton's next visitors.

6 points clear with 6 games left. I think we would have all this position that 6 weeks ago.

I cant help but think how much healthier things would look had the home defeat to Bolton been the same result as today

Can't see a back from the game thread so may as well post here...

Poor game, it was never going to be free-flowing and exciting with the wind and rain. Reading didn't seem to grasp this and resorted to the long ball far too often, and far too soon. There were plenty of chances for both teams, I think Reading shaded the 1st half and Blackburn the 2nd, strangely enough Reading weren't hanging on for a point towards the end, as you would expect with 10 men and facing four strikers. In fact we had our best two chances near the end, Hunt (who reminded us that, despite his laudable and fantastic improvement over the past 2 years, there is a reason he was released by Brentford) and Bikey missing. Bikey was really good again today, only one miskick/error in the whole game, which most of us have realised is the only thing he needs to cut out of his game. (I suppose most players only have to cut out the errors from their games  )

Hahnemann was man of the match by a long way for me today, he's taken a lot of abuse, and still does every time he kicks one out of play, but he has been vital this season. His kicking really isn't that bad, most of the balls out of play are aimed at wingers rather than aimlessly booted, several of them set up attacks today (strangely the crowd went quiet when this happened, only noticing when he stuck it out of play once) and in difficult conditions. On top of this he made one exceptional save and a few very good ones, commanding his area well. The defence was very lucky to keep a clean sheet but you can never control every attack, Blackburn had some very good players out there and moved the ball around better.

The midfield is growing and improving, I still think more bite is needed and Matejovsky needs some serious work on his tackling. Very unfair sending off for him in my opinion, while he was on he showed far more imagination and range than nearly every other player on the pitch with the ball at his feet. We need him if we want to play a passing game, and we need to bring in or find a tough-tackling, energetic midfielder to complement him, which may mean Harper losing his place. He does contribute to the team, he brings great energy and hassles the opposition midfield, but he doesn't either command the middle of the park or unlock defences, so his use is inherently limited.

Doyle worked hard as ever, this season has been a bit of a write-off but with a decent preseason I think he should be back and firing next year. Kitson showed flashes of skill and had a decent game, Oster started like a man on fire but needs to be more decisive and confident in his game. It was a shame to see Sonko out of the squad, coming back from cruciate ligament damage is tough and I really hope he can get back to the player he was from August 2005 until January 2007, him and Bikey would be an immense partnership.

Decent support from the fans, inconsistent and overly harsh refereeing, the result looked OK when the first results were shown a lot better a few minutes after the whistle when Bolton's result came up. It's in our hands, we should be fine but shouldn't rely on other teams - W*st Ham will do us a favour again next week at Bolton no doubt .
