Try adding "was" before "complacent".

A mate of mine who supports West Brom has just emailed me.

He reckons Cummings is a good player and that they wanted to extend his loan until January. Good going forward and solid defensively (except for giving a penalty away to Darius Henderson).

Stranded You'd think that the manager that has worked with the player most, eg BR knows what he's getting and obviously feels he fits the formation more than Liam.

He is a worse defender than Liam whatever system that fits into I dont know. Kebe is obviously not the best tackler so expect us to get COMPLETELY raped down our right side at all times

oxf*rd me!! That's an understatement isn't it?!?!?! Kebe couldnlt tackle a bag of oxf*rd crisps for oxf*rd sake!

Mind you, Rosenior wasn't anywhere near the Parky stakes himself, so perhaps no worse now than with him?

Rosenior brought the experience of 100+ PL apps though, whereas Cummings' got about 30 4th tier starts to his name - so a very steep learning curve - unless Kelly is considered the initial solution?!

Same opinion as the WBA-Mad website...

Defender joins Reading in permanent deal

On loan defender Shaun Cummings has turned down the chance to extend his stay at The Hawthorns until January in favour of joining Championship rivals Reading on a permanent basis.

Albion looked set to extend the loan deal for the Chelsea youngster on transfer deadline day but were left flat-footed by Reading’s approach and were powerless to stop the 20-year-old heading for Berkshire.

Cummings initially joined for a month after a hamstring injury and impressed during the five games he featured. As a result, Roberto Di Matteo had hoped to extend the defender’s stay in the Black Country however the former Chelsea defender has opted for a transfer to the Royals to link up with former academy coach, Brendon Rodgers.

Wycombe Royal i just looked at a West Brom forum and they are dissapointed he has left and rated him highly.

"Not worried by this, although promising he's nowhere near ready and has an awful error brewing somewhere.

He's done okay, but we need better.
"

True we need better, but "decent" cover is better than none at all.

He looked good going forward but very very suspect at the back from the little I saw. I always saw him as a short term signing anyway.

Agreed, he's allways looked like there is a major [moderated word] up waiting to happen imo.

I couldn't help but notice that against Peterboro alot of crosses/goals were from his side.

Sheffield United the weekend, Ched Evans scored from a cross from cummings position. Also it was Cummings that gave away the penalty.

However, he did have quite a few assists, i think it was his cross for Bednar's first.

In my opinion we have better, its not a loss really.

Not 100% certain about his ability. He struggled against Sheff United.

He's 20 FFS. We're buying potential here, he's only been playing RB for 3 years anyway.

like has been aluded to

pearce has potential , mills has potential , bertrand potential , cummings potential

meanwhile that defence has the potential to get relegated if things go wrong.....
Its not so much brining Cummings in that bothers me its the fact that we are even less experienced now

Discussion is difficult for me having never seen him play - for what its worth I am happy that we have got player who some respected people in football seem to rate highly. But I cannot have an opinion on him as a player at the moment.

Saying it is a bad move (on our part) as some West Brom and MK Dons fans didn't rate him is hardly discussion.

"I hope we will try and get a season long loan,.....first choice in that position for me."

"Hope he stays good RB"

"Zowverlonn is a bag of shite, gets caught out time after time, cannot defend at all. Id have Cummings anyday. Looked at ease at Peterborough and against Ipswich too."

"Cummings was just finding his feet, played well IMO and would get better."

"We are short on defnders so we keep the cr@p ones and get rid of a promisiing kid."

"all reading need is confirmation that they got the paper work in before the dead-line, i hope they didn't, i really don't want him to go he is to good, i know we have plenty of players to do the job in this league the future looks good with him, and we look alot safer with him there."

"This is crazy! :O He was doing OK and would have been an excellent addition to the squad. Read only yesterday that his loan had been extended to January! Official site says Jara can cover right back position but as yet, he is untried and doesn't know the English game. It is a short sighted (probably penny-pinching) decision not to have signed him permanently :s :/"

"Shame we lost Cummings, he showed a lot of promise. Pity we couldn,t get a replacement for MEITE be awake. On the whole good start to the season."
