Coppell's Right Footed 11 May sound rather ridiculous but my thinking is that Coppell has said that he is staying for the final year of his contract which is fantastic news...but...

What if a premiership club come in for him....i.e Blackburn? their fans on some message boards have mentioned his name as a possible candidate. Blackburn is the sort of club you could potentially see Coppell at..

If they came calling with a job offer and a longer contract would he go? and would we stand in Blackburns way to stop him going?

Just a thought.... :?

It's a thought that has crossed my mind, but Coppell is supposed to be a man of his word. I think he'll do the right thing and stay.

I really cant see that this is going to be an issue. The question of whether Coppell stayed or not was never a question of whether he could get a different job or not - I think if he'd left us he'd have had another job , in the premiership, pretty quickly. He chose to stay here.

I also dont think that the prospect of a longer contract means anything to a man who until his last contract has insisted on having a one year contract (thank goodness he was persuaded to sign a two year one with us).

Whether he will stay for another contract after this one (regarddless of whether we make an instant return to the Premiership or not ) is I think in more doubt.

He says as much on the official site today. He's staying. End of discussion.

He would have gone at the end of the season.

Of course, the close season would bring mangerial upheaval, he could have left, took a break, see some games and apply for jobs.

But he didn't.

Glad it was not me that started all that off, last time it ended up with Pardew pissing off with my shirt. I wonder if he still has it.

17 Bus is the man to which you should direct your bile - after all, he's said on more than one occasion that he was responsible.

No bile as such.

The "car park crew" (sic) acted in good faith - they just screwed up big time.

We are better off with our present manager then anyone else that could "or would" have come in.

All you fools who sit there playing your Football Manager games thinking you know better, no you do not.

Steve Coppell WILL fix this and there is no reason to doubt that we will be contending for the Premiership this year. There is plenty of games to go...

...perhaps some of you complainers should actually go to games then continue to be "poor keyboard warriors" and piss and moan about our manager.
