The reason I said about the two Christmas games was that they are recent ( I didn't include Cardiff away because it wasn't a league game) and I do know of people who will only see those two games this season.
The thread title was "forseeable future" so to redress the balance of those having a go at Schards after we won some games I thought it relevant to refer to our most up-to-date form.
I would be very pleased if people come on here after the thrashing of Watford to confirm that progress is back on tracks.

Right, so, when was our last league defeat?

Be reasonable - 'progress' was never defined purely in terms of results.

Just playing devil's advocate here - but if we were to sell Hunt and not sign a Surman or someone in his place - would you call that progress?

How can that be answered before the end of the season ?

It can't be answered at all because it will never be relevant. Just like we replaced Shorey, we will replace SHunt should he go. Almost certainly not with a player as effective though.

Of course, progress cannot be determined by such tiny things as one player in and one player out. A football club is so much more complex than that.

To answer Spacey and VM in turn.

When was the last time we lost a game? - last game or 9 league games ago.
When was the last time we won a game? - 4 games ago, or 3 league games ago.

You should both know that really.

It all depends on which team turns up. I've been able to get to only three games this season so far - Soton away, Bristol City and Norwich. I wouldn't have believed that it was the same club, let alone the same team, that I watched on the pitch in front of me.

If it's the Bristol City lot, I will bet on automatic promotion. The other two - no chance.

Without wishing to be inflammatory, IMHO, the last home game that wasn't both dull and uninspiring was Derby 2 months ago.

Anyone disagree?

Its the champ, what do you expect? As much as we may try to kid ourselves that we don't miss the prem, it is 10x more exciting than the champ will ever be.

I'd have been impressed if you'd actually put in your original post that this was the specific period we would be dull and uninspiring.

Despite not great performances I'd say the fact we're unbeaten in 8 in the League and we beat our biggest rival for 2nd 3-1 on their patch is pretty inspiring and not very dull.

So yes, I completely disagree with that.

In fact, I wouldn't have described either of the Cardiff games as dull or uninspiring given the ends to them, the Sheff Utd result was also suppposed to be pretty darn good to, so I'd say that was total rubbish Schards.

Without wanting to cause offence.

Probably a good idea to read the post you are replying to in full before replying. Which was.......

TBF, Schards, if you read Andrew Marr's comment again, I think he is disagreeing with you.

He is talking about league games and his quote "I wouldn't have described either of the Cardiff games as dull or uninspiring" would include our home game on Boxing Day - which is more recent than the Derby game you have stated.

TBlessF, he's referred to 4 games of which only one was at home.

Furthermore if he thinks Cardiff at home was exciting and inspiring (other than the last 30 seconds out of 95 minutes), i'd have to disagree.

Ah ha !

A couple of average home performances must mean we've arrived in the mysterious 'foreseeable future' of mid table mediocrity.

Odd how a convincing win away at 'ambitious' Birmingham saw us go into second place in amongst all this dullness....

Fair fcuks - all I was doing was stopping a tangent-forming-arguement about whether Cardiff at home was more recent than Derby at home.
