First Bridge and now Drenthe. Two exceptional signings that would never have come to Reading had TSL not turned up. Throw in the much improved style of football under Adkins and things are beginning to take shape very nicely. Another nod of approval from TB :D

2 world wars, 1 world cup Sorry to labour the point, but I stood next to a 5'10" friend today. My first impression was "god you're short!". I couldn't help comparing to Drenthe. Then I thought hang on if I was playing footy against someone 3" shorter than him I'd be way better than him.

I have therefore figured that I am probably better than Drenthe.

Therefore I wouldn't bother signing him as I'm not good enough for Reading.

Thanks.

5'10 isnt short mate. that is above the average height for a male. maybe im a little sensitive to this cause im only 5'10 and i wish i was taller. however, drenthe being 5'5 is short. i have a mate who is 5'5 and its so weird standing next to him.

Hey buddy only joking no offence to anyone who's standard height or shorter!!! My posts are purely tongue in cheek to make light on a tense thread :)

Anyone else find it a bit odd that we've had soundbites from the club about Pearce re-signing, but nothing at all about Drenthe? Or have I just missed all of that?

Lol @ ppl actually responding to NFAs windup because we sign a freebie.

GREAT NEWS for us. Im sure this is more likely to attract decent players here as it's obvious we mean business!

I'm certain this was a factor in Pearce deciding to sign.

Sit back and enjoy as Adkins and Anton build the best squad we've ever had at RFC on paper.

Has the potential to go completely tits-up, but he is some player. A real statement of intent by the club.

He'll be shit

(I said it first)

I say it second.Am so depressed by this signing. how many sick notes does a club need?. Kebe, Roberts and Drenthe. The Pog isn´t a sick note exactly but useless.

Yes, Drenthe has a poor past record off the pitch. Yes, Drenthe could turn out to be real trouble for us too. Yes, we could end up really regretting this signing. HOWEVER:

If Adkins can tame him and get him playing to his full potential, not only will we have a fantastic player but, more importantly, an absolutely superb manager.

This ride could turn out to be really exciting.

Drenthe will do well for us.

I'll hear nothing of this "trouble" he has or "personality conflicts "

The countdown to a training ground bust-up with Guthrie starts now.

Equally I think that, while risky, flirting with relegation in the first half of the seaon could work to our advantage because if we're bottom at Christmas and still win the league we will have an absolutely superb manager.
