Extended-Phenotype Someone ought to point out that the window closes at the end of January.

If Reading do anything in the transfer window this month it won't be until the end of the month. By then no doubt both Sharp and Baird will have moved elsewhere....

Theres always a silver lining! Not sure either have added much especially as Baird has been injured a lot. Need fresh blood I think

Not sure about that. Baird is out until 24th Jan I think Charlie Watts said, and he has told the club he wants to stay. It's just a matter of getting him fit and then sorting the contract out. Sharp wants to stay, has said so himself, and Adkins has said he wants him. It's just a matter of when the deal can be done. It's the other players we may be targeting that may not be available when we can do business that is the concern - IMO.

Badger Finger Embrace the average

I'd be good to have a couple of quiet years

I was thinking this the other day. Maybe the big overreaction is because we are having a bang average season for once.

I mean look at this

2006 - Won league
2007 - Nearly got into Europe, highest ever finish
2008 - Releg8ed
2009 - Lost in Play Off Semi's
2010 - Looked doomed, pulled it back and nearly got into playoffs
2011 - Lost in Play Off Final
2012 - Won league
2013 - Releg8ed

It's been 8 years since we had a boring season

In a way I miss the adrenaline of the relegation survivals in the late 90s. In some ways beating relegation is just as satisfying as winning the league. I was thinking the other day that it's a shit we haven't survived a full on relegation fight since 1997.

We've had two shit half seasons where we've had to worry and then ended up storming up to 9th / 10th, but that hardly counts.

Interesting, I take it you're referring to 2000 and 2010? Both 10 years apart, and this season reminds me of Coppell's 1st season (2003-4) when we were inconsistent and failed to win 3 games in a row I seem to remember (I have erased a lot of that season from my memory but that sticks out). We have done that this season but it only started after a fortunate win against Leeds.

The main difference between then and now though is that I can't see us keeping the core of the team. IIRC at the end of that season we gave new contracts to 3 players, Sidwell, Shorey and either Harper or Murty. I don't see Pog, McCarthy or Guthrie signing new contracts this summer, irrespective of whether there has to be a fire sale or not.

More often than not the people who want to buy the club have some sort of connection to the Local Area.

This tells me that the person heading up the US bid for the club is none other than this chap

I can't remember his full name but I do remember it having Osama and Hussein in there, so we should steer clear of him

It's been a fantastic ride for and old new Reading fans. We have come from the 2,000 / 3,000 Elm Park days to full houses at the Mad Stad.

Who the hell is that?? any ITKs ITK?

At least the 40Mil price tag matches what Anton (almost) paid, show's we're not in a worse financial position than before the prem.
(also not in a better one)

Here - http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/24348285 -
The deal to acquire the 51% stake had been expected to be completed in March but was delayed by three months.
That stake was said to be around £40m, including a bonus to Madejski for promotion to the Premier League, with the final 49% said to be worth £25m.

Although re-reading I now realise they're saying the whole deal was 65mil?!?! which it definitely wasn't.

It is believed Zingarevich became disillusioned with football when Reading were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Still wrong. Look at the Daily Mail article. It was an interview with Samuelson, rather than a journo speculating on behalf of the BBC.

"51 per cent of the club for £12.7m, with a firm commitment to buy the other 49 per cent for £12.3m."

Fair enough, I'll go with the Samuelson info. Although it's poor reporting and very strange (although not totally unexpected) that the BBC reporter speculated on the value 14 months after the Samuelson article stated the amount.

Reading were firmly in the Championship when he bought in

Classic Anti spin I wouldn't put too much credence on this sort of BS.
