thanks for pointing this out. McDonut set us back years by getting promoted without any strategy in place

Hard to put a long term strategy in place when your best players, who you're building the team around, are continually being sold from under you in a book balancing exercise.

sold or wanted to leave cos of McDonut....you've gotta ask yourself that question

LoyalRoyalFan Whilst Leeds have delved into the transfer market, we still haven't signed a striker nearly 5 months since Adkins took over.

Have you ever thought that the strikers Adkins has been trying to get in(if any), just maybe, didn't want to come to us thus far? I'm pretty sure he has tried to get at least one in, unsuccesfully of course, and that they have chosen to go elsewhere?

No point keep harping on about the striker 'problem', I'm sure Adkins is aware of this situation.

winchester_royal IR's obviously forgotten the 2-0 lead we had at Swansea.

Banders has obviously forgotten us throwing away that lead.

BMac's team wouldn't have got into that sort of lead in that specific game I meant. Because it only came from playing Watford off the park, not soaking up pressure and being clinical with one or two chances against the run of play.

Although the strikers they've got are a player we'd have kept if we thought he was worth more than a season as back up and a guy who scored 11 goals at Oldham. I think we're aiming just a touch higher and already have better than those two.

Would take McCormack over Blackman and a disinterested Pogrebnyak tbf.

Bandini Our current brand of so-called passing football is all well and good, but no-one can dispute that a McDermott team would have held on for the win on Saturday.

Don't get me wrong though, I still think that the manager has at least another couple of games grace period before Anton needs to start looking for alternatives.

What absolute garbage. Under McDermott we often came back to get results in the last quarter of matches, despite usually not deserving to do so. McDermott's teams were notorious for being terrible at hanging onto a lead, especially in the PL. The one where they managed to throw away a 4-0 lead at home to Arsenal springs to mind. OK, so that was in the Cup, but last season we also failed to hang onto a lead against,

Chelsea - Away
Newcastle - Home (twice)
Swansea - Away (2 goal advantage)
QPR - Away
Wigan - Away
Manchester United - Home (3 times)
Tottenham - Away
Aston Villa - Home

Oh and to anyone talking about it, we never deserved to be 2-0 up against Swansea, far from it. Anyone who was there will tell you that. Got totally outplayed for 90 minutes but scored with our first 2 shots. If it wernt for McCarthy it would have been about 6-2.

Its actually more McDermott's fault than it is Adkins fault that we threw away our lead on Saturday. The same problem of the way we played when we were infront under McD is still present, because its virtually the same squad. And although its improving, until Adkins drills it out of them then we will still be vulnerable.

You're talking out of your arse mate. It was a combination of Zola changing formation and poor substitutions from Adkins that got Watford back into it.

I didn't catch McDermott on the touchline, did I miss something?

 How did I know that was coming? So predictabLOLe. I wouldn't expect you to understand anyway but I meant McDermott's sides inability to hold onto a lead is still present with the current side and its going to take time for Adkins to get rid of sort of mentality. He will do it though.

That wasn't the point made though. And we have better than Blackman and a disinterested Pog in ALF, who I'll take over McCormack.

Yeah so would I - two of those players were signed by your hero and one's about to be sold by him...oh the irony.

Sorry, you've lost me.

McDermott got us promoted through sheer resilience and being able to shut up shop.

It was nothing to do with Brian McDermott it was down to, in large part, Zola and his team but also some poor substitutions from our current manager.

Sometimes you have to give the opposition credit.

Surely Zola couldn't have outplayed Master Adkins and his marvellous passing football that has kept us so many clean sheets....?

I agree wholeheartedly with this.

It's a tough call to make against a quality side, who can destroy you with possession or on the break, when you have a 2 goal lead with half the game to play. We ended up not really picking either carrying on for the kill or shutting up shop completely. Against almost anyone else I doubt it would have mattered. I'm sure we'll learn from it and be a better team.

I thought we looked an exciting prospect once our relegation was confirmed, barring West Ham, and we were in for a good season. I'm certain of it after that match which had as good a performance as I think I've ever seen from us for that first 60 minutes.
