FiNeRaIn This is all pre-investment, I can't believe people are still bumping this trying to prove a point. The people claiming how crap we were are the same people who were demanding we spend money on the team. We did that, we didn't spend massive amounts but we bought in what we had to and moved from a play-off chasing team playing some average football to a team that won the league and got far more effective at its job.

That's just plain rubbish about pre-investment.

For games played from 17th September to January 20th Reading were top on points gained. This appears to be pre-investment.
We were only chasing a play-off place because of the extremely poor start.
Maintaining that form post-investment has allowed that form to continue and indeed improve, but suggesting that this season has been investment-dependant is just nonsense.

Tony Le Mesmer Take a read through the thread. Thats what we all thought of this team (and manager) earlier this season. FickLOLe.

It was pretty turgid tbh. There's some fairly typical over-reaction and doomsaying about what it meant for the season... but the game was poor and its a testament to McDermott and the players that they did pull themselves together and start playing as a team again.

Looking back, it's pretty clear there was a lack of direction, cohesion and confidence in what they were doing at that time. Very shortly after that it all started to fall in place.
