^ likewise Cape Town

Sat in the rafters with the Saints VIP's

First goal....muffled happiness...still a long way to go....back just in time from the bar to see Lamberts goal

Second goal....emotions took over....quietly raised hands in air, got optimistic...started clock watching

Third goal....WTF......no shame....went mental!

Where I was stood there was a woman behind me slagging Kebe off the whole game for being lazy....I pointed out to her that he had provided the crosses for two of the goals and that is why we have him in the team. She replied "No, no, no"
What an idiot...luckily her yelling didn't distract from the sheer joy of watching the team bag another three points.

Maguire Reading, lucky in all of their last three games? Give it a rest. None of it was down to poor refereeing or controversial moments. We won fair and square in every game by being better than our opponents at winning football matches.

think we may have been a little lucky at Brighton tbh

How? The free kick perhaps but thats it.

48 hours later and my voice has finally returned to normal. What a night, what a game, what an atmosphere!

Cape Town Royal Going back to the Kebe cross, can you remember a better cross from a Reading player, absolutely on the button for Roberts and totally took out the goalkeeper...

HRK to Kebe @ Watford was pretty special also :-)

Apologies if this is a whoosh but having just seen the OPTA stats on the game.

Passes
Southampton 587
Reading 222

Total Crosses
Southampton 42
Reading 7

Possession
Southampton 72.5
Reading 27.5

Fouls
Southampton 13
Reading 4

Obviously the only stat that matters is the number of goals but I didn't think we were quite that dominated.

Shows how effective we are on the break and also how well disciplined we continue to be.

I did not realise we were that good.

One important stat missing though................. 3 shots on target and three goals, get in!!

Didn't we also give away a stone-wall penalty (Gorkss on CMS) that wasn't given?

Wasn't there also a Reading handball in the box almost immediately after our goal?

Didn't Vincente get clean through and manage to hit the bar from 5 yards?

And we were lucky that on the day Brighton, normally quite clinical didn't have their shooting boots on

180 Shots On Target 172 Off Target 15 HW 48 Goals

Scoring Rate 1 Goal every 7.21 Chances
Scoring Rate 1 Goal every 3.91 Shots on Target

Yet v Reading they had 14 Chances (2-goal equivalent) with 7 on Target (also approx 2 goals) but they missed the lot.

I say again, thrilled we won, but we were a bit lucky. Could have had 3 pens against and Brighton left their shooting boots at home

First chance to post something after friday night, i thought our support was outstanding, even when saints equalised we didnt stop. I was stood in the top row and almost fell down the stairs after our second, some hillarious scenes in the concourse before the game & half time. great night to be a reading fan

Exactly

and IMO we were lucky to catch a very good West Ham side during its run of under-pressure
bad games at home (eg how would we like to go there AFTER they 3-3'd and won 6-0)

IMO, even though we got 4 goals the game at Upton Park was more about WHU falling
apart. Is there anyone who though, on 30 minutes, that we'd score FOUR and be comfortable?

I thought we'd be lucky to get nil.

Having said all the above, I'm still delighted that we have had things fall so sweetly for us.

Compensation, perhaps, for the good goal disallowed at Blackpool (probably cost 3 points)
the disallowed goal at Palace (another 2 points) the "off-side" goal home to Hull (another point)

We're also lucky that we have McDermott as manager and he was lucky to somehow put the together the most ruthless side in the division.

Indeed, and lucky that we have a decent academy that has luckily produced some decent players.

We were also lucky that Warnock decided to sell us Gorkss and Ledge.

Not to mention the huge slice of luck that TSI's emergence was.

There's no luck involved in letting in the least number of goals of any team in the division.

I can't remember who passed it but the pass to kebe for him to cross for Roberts was badly over hit

I don't think any of our players would of caught up with that apart from Kebe. If he hadn't of got hold of that it could of been a different game.

I know a lot of could of's but I just remember it and thought Kebe was bloody quick to get that ball

Believe it was Mullins!

All this talk regarding Kebe, yes he may not have had one of his better games but he did assist 2 out of 3 goals and was back tracking and heading the ball out in the dying stages, all important contributions i would say!

Yes, McAnuff to Mullins to Kebe to Roberts to Onion Bag

And let's never forget that Kebe is always dragging defenders out to him

Watching the match back yesterday I thought Kebe
was better than I did watching in the Stadium.
