WBA fans seem to think they're prepared to pay £5m for him. I'd take that and bring in Charlie Austin who has 12 months left on his contract.

We would be mad not to take 5M I think. Much as I like ALF he is limited in that he is better off the bench than strarting a game and I think we can find other options that would suit us better for the longer run - whether Austin or ANO only time will tell.

Personally I would sell ALF and keep Pog if we possibly can as the latter could be a great asset at Championship level and should score a lot of goals.

I'm not sure that incoming money will be any motivation for the club whatsoever....

The recent comments from Adkins regarding having two plans, one for the Prem and one for the Champ, and other noises from the club about not having to sell players, implies to me that NA has a good handle on who he wants to keep and who can go, and has also agreed a budget for incoming players.

If that budget is in place, and NA wants to keep ALF (which his interview yesterday where he said he wants to start ALF in more games would imply), then I'm not sure that an offer of any realistic amount would make the club sell if they don't want to......
The only thing which could change this would be if the player himself wanted a move, in which case I suspect we'd try our hardest to persuade him to stay, but if, in the end, he decides he wants to go then there's little we can do other than maximize the fee we get for him....

Why wont they? They did for Long. Doyle and Kitson went for more and had similar seasons.

We need a big, fast and strong forward who can go at players, make something from nothing, and thus cause problems in the box, so that the likes of Le Fondre can find the spaces and play off of him as he's more of a poacher (so if possible i'd keep Le Fondre). We do not have anyone who is big/fast/strong. For me the Pog would be one of the first i'd want to get rid of...if he could run faster than me with my bad knees and age against me i'd keep him, plus for his size he is awful in the air, he has been training with Simon Church for too long as he rarely jumps up to knock balls on when he's been paired with another forward.

Kevin Doyle and ALF would be a good combination. Play Doyler in the position that he should be as the support striker in a 2 man attack. Doyle was never used properly by Wolves hence his low number of goals there. He played his best football as the support striker in a 2 man front line. Whether it was Lita or Kitson that he was supporting that was his best role.

Doyle is the big/fast/strong striker that we need.

So, WBA fans are now doing the transfer negotiations for the club. Whatever next?

£5m sounds very nice, hope it's true.

Jelle Vossen/Austin, just someone who has goals + more.

Oh yeah, I mean you've only got to look at this board to know that the fans know exactly who their club's targets will be and how much they're willing to pay.

Apart from not being particularly big or strong. And having a proven track record of going missing from the goalscoring sheet when things aren't going well. I wouldn't say he's devastatingly quick either these days, but maybe I'm being harsh.

You do seem to prefer a striker who only has one out of the three characteristics over one with two out of three. I'm assumign what you both mean is you want someone quicker than Pog.

Going back for Doyle would be a huge mistake IMO. He could never live up to expectations.

Someone says we're in for Rhodes but he'll cost us £8 million. Reading fans know that will never happen and he ends up at Blackburn. Fans have a reasonable grasp on how much financial muscle their clubs are willing to flex.

Sell him to the West Brom fans then.

Money doesn't matter so much for the club now, but we will have too large a squad for the championship if Adkins brings in a few players and cannot shift some out. We have got to get rid of the dead wood who won't make much of a contribution next year. If any team offers more than a couple of million for LeFondre we need to consider it.

Are you classing ALF as part of the 'dead wood' who wont make a contribution next year?

Very happy to be proved wrong if we are going to get some good money for him but why would the team in 8th in the PL be looking to sign a 26 year old bloke who struggled to get a starting place for the team in 23rd and going down?

Because their main striker this year - the one who's largely got them to 8th himself - is only on loan to them, so there's a hole to fill?

And their manager is one of the few in the PL who doesn't play a lone striker system so needs to have 3 or 4 decent strikers who he can mix and match?

I don't know if it's going to happen, but if it did WBA would make sense as be one of the PL clubs most likely to want him.
