Don't know if anyone's mentioned yet but Williams hit a long range last minute screamer against Brazil yesterday.

I enjoyed David Luiz's hissy fit at the fact they'd let one in.

Sounds as if he repeated what he did at Birmingham which cost us a goal.

Well done Olly and his back up.

Little me loves Wales more than England at this moment.

Not the correct thread, but he is international and a Royal at heart... Anyone know how Jem's getting on? Seems he makes the bench a fair bit?

Think he's probably just grateful he doesn't have to play Leeds anymore.

According to http://uk.soccerway.com/players/jem-karacan/21086/ he has played the grand total of 17 minutes, and started once. He has been on the subs bench 4 times.

Doesn't that say he's made one appearance from the bench for 17 minutes?

If he'd started once and only managed 17 minutes he either attained Ali Dia levels of bloody awfulness or his foot fell off again.

Although, what is interesting is that, if Soccerway is to be believed, Karacan, Federici and Pearce have managed a total of 323 minutes of football between them this season and that includes a League Cup game that went to extra time.

Get Reading:

Hal Robson-Kanu is a major doubt for Reading’s game with Charlton on Saturday after limping out of Wales Euro 2016 qualifier this evening.

Royals’ striker, who started the final Group B game against Andorra in Cardiff, rolled his ankle while trying to keep the ball in play by the touchline.

So, how many of you out there are celebrating this fact?

I'm not by the way. Last 3 games he's played he's provided 3 assists and worked really hard for the benefit of the team overall.

No one in their right mind should be celebrating an injury, but regardless of how well he was playing I don't think it's a problem.

Assuming Vydra is fit again which he should be, he'll just swap in.

We're currently spoiled for choice on the wings so while disappointing he's injured, especially when he was starting to show glimpses of his 2013 form, we'll do fine without him.

Anybody make sense of this article, particularly the first sentence.

http://www.bigsoccer.com/blog/2015/10/1 ... f-darkness

Danny Williams will now be demoted to his level of competence, accompanied by a chorus of boos. His performance against Costa Rica was the only memorable one from the US national team. I was much more sad than annoyed by that, because I remembered this interview from when he was first called up:

ussoccer.com: Have you watched U.S. National Team games in the past?
DW: “Not many because they don’t show that many games in Germany, but I always watch in the World Cup. I will never forget the game against Germany in the 2002 World Cup in the quarterfinal. This was the time that I started loving the USA. I watched the game, and normally I would support Germany. After the U.S. lost that match, I started crying. My dad asked what was going on. I didn’t know what to say, but I wanted the U.S. to win.”

He was my favorite import from that moment, nearly my favorite on the whole team. Not only was he a fan, he was a fan who felt exactly as we did, at the moment we did.

Well, none of us grew up to be good enough for the US national team, either. I hope he doesn't regret his choice, I hope he has a sterling club career, and heck, I hope he gives MLS a try if it pops into his head. Good luck, Danny.

Danny had a rough night against Costa Rica on Tuesday. He was guilty of a few bad giveaways (a couple of which were the result of him being put into bad positions by ill-advised passes from teammates) and he was the one who lost Joel Campbell on the winning goal. I wasn't 100% sure where that article was going but I am getting the vibe Danny is being made the escapegoat for the entire underwhelming USMNT and might have played himself out of the frame to be included in the squad for the upcoming WC qualifying cycle.

In a sense it could be a blessing. He was on the receiving end of a horrendous 2 footed tackle that should have been a red. Fortunately he didn't appear to be injured but it looked every bit as potentially bad as the tackle by Jonny Evans on Stewart Holden a few years ago that has effectively ended Holden's career. As a supporter of Reading FC the less games Danny has to play against CONCACAF opponents the better...they can be thugs.
