Pepe the Horseman isn't he more box to box, whereas Brunt, Morrison and Dorrans are all AMs/wingers?

Probably yes, just think he brings lots of options to the midfield that our existing players don't really.

I have a feeling I've seen him play out wide against us for Sheff U, but as you say I'm sure he's more of a central player but, unlike say Sidwell or Williams, I just feel he has a bit more craft and guile about him that would enable him to do the job of a wide midfielder as opposed to a winger.

Whoever it was who said he was a more talented Jay Tabb might've nailed what I mean. Tabb was a winger-come-midfielder who I would say could've done the same job.

That would be me.

And yep I think you're right, I'm sure he started off playing on the left for Sheffield United.

I think like Tabb he would be more effective playing in a central role. He's an excellent passer of the ball, and seems to have the guile and creativity we've been desperately needing for the last couple of years, and it would be a shame to 'waste' him on the left, but he could definitely do a job out there.

I think the Tabb comparison is spot on.

I remember Tabb looking really cultured when we first signed him and that gradually faded (blame Brian?). I can see Quinn bringing us something similar.

Quinn and Cooper could be a deadly combination.

Excellent signing.

It's good to see us competing with and beating other teams for quality signings.

Clarke's looking like putting in the quality summer additions i didn't think he was capable of but we desperately needed.

Still short at LB, LW, CB and GK and It'll be a long time before i stop missing Pearce, but he's winning me back.

Mind you, the proof is still in the results we start getting come August.

We know the keeper and centre back are in hand (Myhill and McShane maybe)

I don't think he sees LW as a priority as we have Fosu, McLeary, Obita, HRK and Blackman who can all play out there so unless someone buys a couple of those I can't see us do anything there.

Left back is another concern though, I think we should bring in someone who can play in that position as a specialist as I am not entirely convinced by Obita and if Kelly gets another club we'll lose what little flexibility we have - which reminds me if that happens we also might have a problem at right back.

How good are the youngsters in those positions?

Don't forget there's the loan market as well. I can imagine Clarke will still use that to plug any gaps that appear, especially those might appear later in the window as we possibly start to see squad players leave.

Better player than Karacan.
And I can confidently make that statement without ever actually seeing Stephen Quinn play.

Well, judgement on Clarke is very much in reserve after a very poor show under him in the league, but these signings are impressive and I have to say his interview last week was one of the most impressive I've ever heard from ANY manager, let alone a Reading manager, so I really really hope he can prove his worth ....

Promotion here we come! 8)

Can confirm that #readingfc are indeed confident they have won the race for Stephen Quinn. Still some work to be done though.

Reports from @PJBuckingham up at Hull that #readingfc have won the race for Stephen Quinn.

This would be an excellent signing.

Look forward to tipping my hat to Big Foot in being in that exclusive ITK club.

Yes bemuse we getting some really good results last season with Pearce. The sooner your head is out of the sand and back in the real world the better

Hmm, I usually reserve judgement on new posters but the majority of your 117 posts have marked you out as a bit of a confused and objectionable nob. I do wonder who's alter ego you are.
