The Sum of the Parts

The Sum of the Parts Fair point - they've tinkered, but their people seem to be more "consultants" than doing day-to-day stuff.

The player recruitment process is virtually unchanged - I'd suspect these consultant's suggest potential signings rather than say "you must sign so-and-so."

Although if they have access to agents etc in a particular market it's understandable if we seem to suddenly be recruiting there

Yes, although don't forget that BMc spent over a year scouting for Arsenal - you can be sure they have scouts across the globes, so it's perfectly possible that some of the players he saw in that time that might not have been right for Arsenal are of interest now. I'm fairly sure the young winger we signed recently who needs a work permit falls into that category.

Was thinking more of Semedo, Sa, Fernandes, John, Hurtado...
No idea of there is a common link through an agent but it did seem a lot of our summer signings had connections in Spain or Portugal and I'm fairly sure there is a Thai link there too
I'd be amazed if Brian didn't bring his Filofax with him and is busy revisiting players who made it to the 'maybe' pile for Arsenal

I don't know if it's a doable thing, but could Brian have his hands tied for a certain period with some of prospects he scouted for Arsenal as part of the deal? I vaguely remember CW mentioning something along these lines just before he returned.

I would imagine a scout would have clauses in his contract preventing him from approaching players if he joined a new employer but if those players were not contracted to Arsenal they probably couldn't claim any rights to them.
And to be honest I doubt many of Arsenal's serious targets would fall into our price bracket !

Who have the gooners signed recently that could be available ? We got Piazon who has played at every age group for Brazil (except Snr) & everyone thinks he's too lightweight ! do we think the gooners tippy tappy footballers are going to suit us ?

Well that's been blown out of the water with McDermotts comments about his latest addition to the squad.
