PlasticRoyale Didn't really see any punches thrown and he was with a couple of older adults who were protecting him. Was a big mob surrounding him and a bit of shoving. Ended up being forced down the entrance to Y25 before tango's escorted him out. Was told to take his shirt off and plenty of people were trying to rip it off him.

One of the adults with him took his top off and fronted a few people up but it didn't really kick off into a major brawl.

This is the only account of the incident that bears any resemblence to what I saw going on.

From what I saw, the kid walked in on his own, got a load of abuse from a number of Reading fans whilst a few others tried to protect him. By the time he'd made it to the entrance to Y25 he's been given a bit of a fright but I didn't see any pasting dished out and the stewards were on their way to escort him to the disabled section where he was provided a jumper to cover up his shirt before they marched him out.

Was there actually any physical attack between the concourse and the disabled section or is this just a lot of hot air over a complete non-event?

The kid was an idiot but the stewards that let him in put him and other fans at risk, I hope they get a banning order soon too!

Maguire Only on HNA could you end up with 8 pages of outrage about one minor scuffle.

That response is completely predictable from someone that obviously enjoys the violence and thinks it's 'part of football.'

I just wish those people would just come out and say so, instead of couching it in accusations of 'PC-gone-mad' and other such b*llocks.

It seems this lad's only crime was being incredibly stupid.

Surely if that was a reason to get a beating then many contributors to this thread, notable Peter Kay etc, would be constantly black and blue?

Its a measure of the changing mores of football supporters and the new stadiums that such a relatively trivial incident when compared to the outrages of the 70s and 80s can attract nine pages of comments.

Some matches were characterised by almost constant fighting on the terraces in those days and many people were seriously injured. Is this one incident at the Madstad really so important?

You are still a twat. What you know about football and the people who support football would put simply, not cover the back of a first class stamp.

Shut your mouth, unless you have something concrete or intelligent to contribute to this discussion board.

Post of the day. From someone who has obviously been going to football far longer than 1998.

Apart from the time I charged Stoke on the A33 I have never been involved in football-related violence.

So, yeah, I *obviously* enjoy it

Well done.

But you don't have anything concrete or intelligent to contribute, why are you still here?

A wise man once said it is better to be thought stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. I think he had a point.

So lets get this straight; just because the bombing of Lebanon didn't wipe out the whole of a city and kill an entire population that makes it a trivial event. After all it wasn't Hiroshima was it, so things are much better now?

Saturday's incidents may not have been as violent as the utter rubbish I had to put up with as a teenager at EP etc, but they were still totally unecessary incidents that demonstrate that there are still brain dead goons hanging around football grounds with aggression on their minds. They may be in the minority - but they still need to be controlled and punished. I hope that they are identified and prosecuted (or at worst banned).

Lebanon and Saturday at the Mad Stad.. so they compare do they.. Im laughing so much my sides are hurting!

Ever been to an area of conflict yourself have you? Read this link and then reflect on how stupid a comparison that actually is.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jh ... ttle22.xml

Finally, I agree with everything you say in your second paragraph completely. But seriously lets not compare the Mad Stad with a warzone. I have friends of mine in Southern Afghanistan right now who would piss themselves at such a ridiculous comparison.. if they werent reaching for their body armour and helmut that is...(!)

He wasnt only wearing a shirt, by the recollections of some people on this thread he was shouting abuse at Reading fans on the way out of the East stand.

Where does a 'simple mistake' end and stupidity begins I wonder. Oh I know..its when you begin to type.
