Convey has to start the next match. The club hasn't updated the injury page on the website since the 4th Sep so no update on how far away Little and Sonko are from a return.

Looks like I'm going to have to get pissed tonight, there's no way I'm watching MotD tonight.

So not an entirely bad day.

I very much doubt we'll see Little play again. All the murmors are that he can only get so far with his rehabilitation and then goes back to square one. Sonko is back in full training I think but he will have to be eased back into first team football. I think that the Bikey/Ingimarsson center back pairing is the one we need to persist with, it just needs time to settle.

Where has Reading gone and who are this bunch of losers wearing blue and white hoops? It's simple, we are SHIT!. I don't know why 1 player leaving should make such a difference. I don't believe he was the messiah and truly believed we would be fine without him.

We were awesome against Man Utd, awesome but unlucky (again) against Chelsea, Great against Everton (although they themselves were poor) but since then we've been SHIT!

The longer Hunts hair gets the worse the team plays. Get it cut son!

I want to see Convey start. He has made a difference (all be it too late) in the both the games he's come on late for us.

And what does handball mean anymore? 2 handballs in the area should = 2 penalties, and 1 handball outside the area by a 'keeper should = red. For kcuf sake, sort it out FA!

But even if we'd got all that, we were still SHIT!

Hahnemann's Hairdresser I very much doubt we'll see Little play again. .
that is a very big part of our problem this season. We have a style which relies very heavily on having two wingers to give us shape and create chances. Last season we had three options on the right. This season two of those are injured, and one didn't want to play for us any more. Only time will tell how rosenior will do for us.

We may not have the quality of the genuine mid-table clubs, but I still don't believe that we are worse than the teams that were down the bottom last season, or even those that came up - even after today's result.

If we can get the shape of the team back, and the players can get the scent of blood in their nostrils again, we should be fine. If we can't, and keep playing like a team feling sorry for themselves, we won't.

Don't worry. Our team spirit is far too good for us to be affected by second season syndrome.

Apparently.

Other than being a twatish comment - why do you think Gunnar was worse than Harper? Or Hunt? Or Murty? Or Ingi? (Actually to be fair to Murts, he was much mproved in the second half)

Volvicanus Hmmm.. why am I not surprised. Lita off. Convey and others on - and we score finally.

Long hasn't done anything better than Lita has.

Today Long was far better than Lita.

2nd game in succession Coppell has not started with his best side. If Fae can't get in to centre mid ahead of Bryn then we've been mugged of 3.5million. Coppell moaned about how his international players will be knackered travelling all the way to Sunderland after big midweek trips and then plays Hunt (okay, I know he didn't finish the game on Wednesday) ahead of Convey - who was the single glimmer of hope that came out of the West Ham game.

Convey will start the next game

Sir Steve allows players to play below the standards of the players who are waiting to replace them.

Then he actually replaces them

Seems like a good plan to me.

It's not such a great plan if it costs us points in vital game like Sunderland away.

When you saw the side he'd picked, did you honestly think, hey this is the team that's going to turn things round. Or did you think, christ there's no pace and there's very little width.

Rev Algenon Stickleback H
winchester_royal coppell seems to have lost the plot,

...is this the first appearence of the stock phrase of the 606 caller?

Reading struggle, so Coppell is suddenly a rubbish boss?

The problem for me, is two-fold.

1) we've lost the hunger of last season. It isn't so much a case up effort as the players just not being up for the fight.

2) we're creating almost nothing. The players don't look they believe they are going to score. It means players' heads drop the moment they go a goal down.

Combine points 1 & 2 and you have a recipe for relegation. The defeat to West Ham was a relegation performance, and the losses at Bolton and today (assuming nothing remarkable happens in the next 20 minutes) don't sound any better.

The trouble is points 1&2 tend to point straight back to the manager. He put his faith in his existing players but a few days later is saying he may have made a mistake in doing so! Those existing players are now failing to deliver and he has no others with which to produce a Plan B. Now we have to take an optimistic view regarding the return of our injured players and hope that January doesn't arrive too late for us.

Coppell's utterances so far this season, culminating in the 'conspiracy theory' about long trips after international breaks, are really worrying and completely out of character for him. Has someone nobbled him?!
