Old Biscuitman Must be up there with RFC's best ever results (I did say results, not performances, mind). I do find it amazing that there are posters on here who can find something to moan about on a day we beat Liverpool FC, one of the truly great clubs and one of the biggest. Where have you been for the last 136 years, you guys? Celebrate the day.

Happy as anyone else. Just not capable of pretending everything is wonderful and all played flawlessly when they didn't.

And as far as I'm concerned that was the best result in our history. The only ways to better that are:

Beat Man U @ home in the league
Beat Liverpool/Arsenal/Man U away
Win the FA cup
The game that wins us the top flight
Win a major Euro competition.

We just beat Liverpool, the greatest ever British team, at the fifth time of asking, despite being, according to so many, footballing no marks.

   :D :D :D :D 8)

Can't disagree with that. Just hope that it happens during this century. I can't wait until the next one. :)

Chelsea don't even come close. Recent big team who've spent most of their time as top league also rans.

To be honest, beating Spurs and Everton means more in the big scheme of things than beating Cheatski.

Get over yourself.

although 99.9% of Reading fans would prefer to beat Chelsea over Spurs or Everton.

Probably because we've already beaten them...

In my opinion this is the Premier League in order of 'bigness'

1. Liverpool
2. Man U
3. Arsenal
4. Spurs
5. Everton
6. Newcastle
7. Aston Villa
8. Man C
9. Chelsea
10. Sunderland
11. Blackburn
12. Portsmouth
13. Derby
14. West Ham
15. Bolton
16. Middesbrough
17. Birmingham
18. Fulham
19. Reading
20. Wigan

Anyone able to come up with a reasonable method of rating bigness? Its easy enough to award points for the number and type of trophies won but does get tricky as you have to take into account history, stadium size and fanbase

I would swap the top 2, MAn U have to be the biggest, esp when you think worldwide, and i would move Chelsea above Man c and Villa TBH, both of them have been in Div 3 in my memory, Chelsea most of the time in Top or just a few seasons at level 2.

Exactly, a good pub argument this one. Liverpool have a mountain of trophies at the highest level in Europe and are hardly unknown worldwide, Man C and Villa both eclipse Chelsea in terms of fan base and have essentially won at least as much, if not more than Chelsea, Villa even having one more European Cup than the 'Pensioners'!

there has to be some sort of weighting system to reward titles won recently and those won last century
10 points for a top flight title, and one point lost for every decade since it was won?

well i would consider a club who won the top title in 1899 and that was it, no longer deserving of the ten points, draw up your own weighting system if mine aint good enough!

I did some research I while back on who'd won what and allocating points for each competition won.

Liverpool won, but if they don't buck up soon they'll be replaced by utd.

Chelsea were nowhere but I think still higher than Newcastle. Historicly Sunderland are more successful than Newcastle as well. Villa were right up there, and I'm pretty sure higher than Everton and Spurs.
