I agree it has become very boring over the last month regarding Harps and Shunt. However, alot of people seem to forget that Hunt is the ONLY player who cover severy blade of grass each week ( QPR away excepted ) and gives 100%. Harps on the other hand is in my opinion, a reserve team player. Why bring in Tabb and Harding and leave them on the bench when a first teamer in under-performing? Just pure Reading FC logic...!!! Also, why were we even contemplating selling who i consider our best player in Jan? Did Wolves/Birmingham/Cardiff/Sheff Utd look to sell their best players while going for promotion? NO. So why were we linked? As before we have shown total lack of ambition to go up in not bringing in more quality players, especially upfront. We have 4 strikers, 3 of which are below 6ft yet we still pump the ball in the air each attack- smart eh!!! We need more if we are to push otherwise the same as last May will happen- we'll miss out, trust me!!!

??
Sheff United sold Beattie.
Wolves lost Mark Davies to Bolton. Although not a Kightly he will be missed. McCarthy was furious.

Cardiff were in a very similar position to ourselves. If a "get out clause" bid had have come in then they would have lost players. The credit crunch has forced teams to look abroad rather than to home based championship players. It's done us a power of good!

Out of those it was clear Birmingham were lacking - they've bought in a lot of players and, basically, haven't so far managed to turn their form around.

But cardiff haven't lost players, despite all the clauses and 'they would have done' they didn't and they added players, good players to their ranks. Wolves have added a good centre half and although they 'lost' Davies he wasn't there anyway because he was out on loan, so it will make zero difference to their season. The only top team that sold anyone wa Sheff Utd because Beattie was on mega money that they couldn't afford anymore with them not guaranteed promotion.

Yes - I thought Cardiff we're in exactly the same position as ourselves. The original poster was basically saying that those clubs hadn't actively looked to sell their best players - very few clubs in with a shout of Premiership football will be actively looking to sell their players. We are definately in this group - I think this has been aptly born out with the fact that both Doyle and Hunt are still with us. Wether you think Davis is a good player or not and the fact that he was on loan (something McCarthy did reluctantly) is irrelevant. My interpretation - I'm struggling not to use the F word (FACT) - is that the poster was wrong with not only his list but his initial assertion.

I thought Cardiff lost Routledge... He was pretty influential for them.

How did they do during the spell without Chopra out of curiosity? How many games was it?

Routledge was on loan. They did try to either buy or extend. Didn't he end up at QPR? WWAP I believe.

Yes he was on loan, and yes he went to QPR, but he was still an important part of the team, so regardless of who his contract belonged to, surely his no longer being there has weakened them?

OK - I'm happy with that. But to be fair to Cardiff, they did want to keep him.
