sandman
semtex1871 if all the dicks who were at the car park begging him to stay had not bothered, we might well have done better this season.

we didn't deserve to be in the play offs after the way we have played since Xmas.....Coppell had run out of ideas and we desperately need some new leadership.

good riddance Mr Boring......

The comedy stylings of a complete moron.Give him a round of applause.

Top Flight We finished above Burnley in the table and over two legs looked the better side.

football is decided on the smallest of margins. Get over yourself Woodcote. We have had another successful season. It's just that you don't interpret it that way because your head is in cloud cuckoo land.

And, as ever, yours remains up Coppell's backside.

It is simply pathetic that supporters like you don't give a fcuk about our players being called "fcuking w@nkers" because all that matters in your eyes is making sure that the manager responsible for 2 seasons of abject failure doesn't get to take any of the blame.

Thank God the man himself had enough self respect to do the decent thing.

You know the best thing about Coppell? His humility.

He's got decades of experience, won back-to-back LMA titles, taken a small-time club to a record title win and 8th in the prem, and now he says he's going to watch other managers so as to "continue my education as a football manager."

How many experienced managers can you imagine saying something like that?

My thoughts entirely. There is no straighter, more humble man in English football.

Quite a few if they've been relegated thrice and failed 4 out of 6 seasons.

Try to read the post and not be a dick, Royalee. I know you don't like Coppell, you might not even like his humility, but you can't genuinely think that most managers in his situation would act the same as him. You see Wenger, O Neill, Hughes, and so on, appearing on tv and accepting their faults and expressing the desire to continue learning? No, you see them deflecting the blame and rigidly sticking to their guns. And those are three of the better men in football, too.

I don't beleive I said he had been relegated at all.

Coppell's stats as a manager with small clubs can be put up against that of most and the more you slag him off the more foolish you look.

By the way the vast majority of managers fail 6 out of every 6 seasons

The vast majority of managers don't have the resources available at RFC.

Yeah, 106 points and 8th in the prem was pretty much par for the course, given all our billions. Wasn't it Royalee?

We would almost certainly have better resources than most clubs in our current division, let alone in the whole football league.

Resources are one thing, but what you do with the sums made available is a more relevant factor.

I'd venture that Norwich, Southampton and Charlton have, during the course of the last 6 years, had more resources made available for investment in their playing squads than RFC. They have all been relegated to League 1 and (probably) have nothing left for further investment. We on the other hand are stable and strong with a flourishing academy and have a load of good youngsters playing 1st team football who might well prove ready to take the club forward in the next 2 or 3 years.

Other clubs like Derby and QPR also appear to have spent vastly more than us during that time but finished well below us in the this year's table.

Be thankful that we are a well-run club - opportunities for further advancement might well have been missed but we'll never know for sure what would have happened had more been spent. I'm certainly happy where we are at the moment.
