H-Town Royal The way Newcastle played today and last week... they are going to dominate most teams this year.

Last week their keeper had to make four great stops to secure a draw. What game were you watching?

That's a keepers job
We are playing like shit but Newcaslte looks to be the better team - even if we were to be playing well.

Sarah Star I can't say we looked a threat, but the ref hasn't helped either.

Don't even dare blame the ref, just don't dare.

Nowt to do with the ref admittedly but FR you are wrong about Newcastle. I thought they would win this division and from what I saw today am convinced they will.

He scored 10 in 15 under Rodgers last season while on loan at Watford, and 54 goals in 152 League Games to summarise.

Result i expected. People who say Newcastle will do nothing this season are idiots, they'll easily make the play offs.

Reading are, currently, not a good enough team to compete with any of the three relegated sides.

Most disappointing is our total lack of any threat going forward. There was hardly anything to show for it last week and this week has been even worse.

Today Kebe and Church might as well have not been on the pitch and I just don't rate Long to any degree whatsoever, except as a substitute.

We need a damn good striker from somewhere, someone who can score goals and someone who has a bit more directness about them. Tommy Smith that ain't (although signing him I think would be an improvement).

Overall we were not good enough and August could be a long month. Mid table mediocrity would seem to be about right (mind you if we don't start sorting it out going forward we could be back in division 3 next year).

So we still haven't won on a Saturday since 21st December 2008 - and also our dire record of always losing at Newcastle, and conceding at least 3 goals in the process, remains safe

Seriously, I think the only real problem is up front. A-Fed's reasonable enough for this level, the mistakes made by the defence will not be punished so harshly by other teams (whatever crises NUFC suffer, they still possess plenty of players with a great deal of top-level experience) and will be learned from anyway, and I'm impressed by how much fight we showed to the end of the match. I really don't think this is a sign we'll be relegated, or even thereabouts.

Yes,

One of those players that drives fans/managers nuts by having so much talent but being really lazy on the pitch

Arch
winchester_royal - Cisse has shown once again he isn't a regular centre back.
That's worrying given that he was way better than Pearce on the day.

Your watching a different game then

Apart from the obvious error when he switched off for their second, Pearce did alright

The first goal was an excellent cross and good movement by Ameobi to pull off Pearces shoulder a bit but apart from that Pearce won nearly all his headers and was in the right place at the rigth time

No doubt we need a proper centre half alongside him though, and although we look to have bought Mills in to partner him, I would have preferred getting someone with a bit more experience in to replace Ivar

The formation of 4-3-3 does not work for us we need to go back to 4-4-2 and play with wide wingers and strentghen up the midfield at the same time with a player who can break up the play.

Kebe and Church are not in the game in a 4-3-3 set up, there is no service for a loan striker to play on.

The Newcastle deafeat has proved that Rodgers does not have a second game plan when needed and it will be 1 point from a possible 9 after the defeat at Swansea on Tuesday.
