Smoking Kills Dancing DoeCMRoyalRoyal Lady He said spirits were high after beating Barnsley, then on the Sunday he received a phone call from BR saying that the club had accepted an offer from Ipswich. He said he went to speak to Roy Keane, but told Reading he didn't want to go, so the "offer" was reduced to a season-long loan - he said he was sad as he wanted to finish the job with Reading and get them back up, but the club had to cut their expenditure and as one of the higher paid senior pros now, compared to the youngsters, he had to go. As I said on another thread, there can't be much of that cloth left to cut now.
Well, that tells us nothing we didn't already suspect, but it's good to hear (or read) it from one of the horses' mouths. Thanks RL. I guess Marek will indeed be on his way in January.
Again, Rosenior is trying to make himself look good.
We didn't get rid of him to save money, we won't get rid of Marek to save money.
We got rid of Rosenior because he's not good enough, we'll get rid of Marek, because regardless of how good people may think he is, he clearly doesn't fit.
It takes a big person to say straight out "I'm not good enough", but I agree Rosenior isn't good enough, at least in terms of his cost to the club. But the pattern of the summer makes it pretty obvious to me that his jettisoning is a result of a few of the youngsters also not being good enough (yet), leading to him and Harps being released late in the day in order to free up funds to get a few replacements in.
