10539.4 Miles AwayIan Royal My thoughts after watching the match...
Our commentators really are shouting morons. David Armstrong seems to want us to just play exclusively percentage hoofball, but at least can spot when a foul is a foul, which Peter Hood doesn't have a clue about.
Started brightly, but we didn't really control the game, it was too high octane and everyone was snatching at everything. I think it was inevitable that the passes started to go a bit astray and Doncaster started to be able to put their foot on the ball and control midfield.
Tabb started well, but went missing after the goal apart from the odd attack, I agree he looked tired and out of sorts. Donny had lots of good midfield ball, but other than the three goals (which we semi-gifted them with dodgy defending) they rarely troubled Federici. Whereas we could have had 8 or 9 with Long particularly wasteful, though dis-honourable mentions for Tabb and HRK also.
HRK will be a good player if he can just work on his final ball and decision making. Mills wasn't great. Harte was actually pretty good. Long's flick ons are much improved from Swansea, but he still lacks quite a lot in directing and weighting them correctly. He is being helped a great deal more by players actually running past and off him now though.
Personally I'd stick with the starting team & formation for QPR, unless Kebe is fit, in which case he comes in for HRK. Make it Long's last chance, though I'd be happy to see Hunt come in for him. Then switch to 4-4-2 for the next home game with Tabb being the unfortunate one to miss out in midfield to allow Church and Hunt to play together, unless he has a stormer and Karacan has a poor one.
The commentary is the match commentary we get on Reading Player during the match, believe it or not you get used to it after a while.
Amusing moment at 28:09 into the second half, just before Hart scores his free kick Noel points to exactly where the free kick is going to end up.

brendywendy frustration and disapointment are part and parcel of football, especially reading FC.
im just not sure how that converts to booing our own team off the pitch. im not sure its ever going to actually help.
when im frustrated and disappointed in my team i just stop clapping

Hampshire Royal Hi 10539.4 Miles Away, whereabouts in Perth are you? I went to the Oz/Sri Lanka twenty20 on Sunday and got chatting to an Aussie who said he was a Pompey fan (?). When I told him I was a Reading fan he told me that he had a mate who was a Reading fan. Was that you?

Gloria Gooner I've looked through this thread and apologies if I've missed it, but - there was booing at half time from the Reading supporters. Were they booing the ref, the Doncaster number 4 or our players? If the latter, they must have felt a bit foolish at full time.

I know, I listen to it often. And it's impressive that having subsequently watched the game with it over the top I generally thought they were talking bollox in exactly the same places listening as watching.
One thing they do do well, is give you a good feel for the ebb and flow of the game, even if descriptions of individual incidents can be quite unreliable.

Living in East Perth, just down the road from the WACA, work in West Perth. Moved to Perth in March this year and am fortunate so far not to have met any Portsmouth fans, although I have met a couple of royals. Was planning to go to the twenty20 but I was visiting Sydney and the flight back was delayed so didn't make it.
You in Perth often? Any chance you are around for the Ashes?

I arrived in Perth in August thinking I could get Ashes tickets - no chance!! I got a ticket for this Sunday's tour match against WA (just hoping the game lasts til the third day). I live in W Perth (opposite Harbour Town) and work in Cannington. My contract finishes in December so it's back to the real world for me then!!

I imagine it was motivational booing (ref: Soel Ki-Hyeon), and look what a great effect it had on our second half performance

Snowball If Reading are doing badly, I turn the radio down a bit.
That REALLY annoys the players.
Occasionally I even tune to Radio 5.

Really? I might try and take a shit and see if I can replicate the luckiness of one occasion. I guess some of us just support the club through thick and thin no matter where we are. Different strokes and all.
