Size of the fee is obviously greatly affected by whether Shane himself wants to go (and lets that be known to his agent) and the fact he's only got 1 year left on his deal. What RFC might persuade him to do is to sign a 3 year deal with a slightly lower (but still quite high) release clause, similar to SHunt, so that we can be sure of a bigger fee.

depends what we agreed with him when he signed his last contract. If that was pre-loads of goals I wouldn't expect it to be more than £3m. If it's after he started scoring loads or we can renegotiate again now, then I'd expect about £5m.

Oh well, if he does go, £10m (for another player who, to all intents and purposes, is only a 1 season wonder at that fee level) will do very nicely, thank you very much.

2 of those in 2 years and £17m in fees (plus huge recent profits on Doyle, Kitson, Shorey, SHunt) is a fantastic testament as to how the club has been run over the last decade or so. Even if you have to wait for it, investment in the right areas and the right people generally brings its rewards. And no doubt it will continue to do so.
