Premier league experience, knows the club inside out. It reeks of a Big Mac signing.

Dare to Dr£am He has said a few times now that he's sorry he let us down in his last season here, and that yes he did sulk, and the effort went missing. But he admits it, and feels he owes us, and I'm sure Brian will use that as motivation to get the best out of him again.

If anyone get a player going it's Brian!

Always found it hard to understand why fans continue to hold grudges against former players because they wanted to move onto a bigger club ok his attitude at the time was bad but that was nearly 6 years ago people should just move on put the past behind them and give Shorey a 2nd chance and judge him at the end of the season.

Pleased with this. Quality player who will add to our squad this season while we look for a long term solution. Those who slag Shorey off for sulking whilst worshipping Kebe at the same time are hypocrites of the highest order. NS gave us 5/6 years of excellent service before that season. He's an RFC legend and should always be welcomed back to the club with open arms. Be that as a visitor or squad member.

Royalz96 Of all the left backs we get Shorey back :L didnt we BM get given a 15m budget, well so far we havent used any of that, if we are going to get a LB at least get a half decent one who wasnt released by West Brom, :/

1teaminberks?

How do you know he was given 15m

Just because hes been given a budget doesnt mean he has to spend it. Its what makes him a shrewd manager unlike BIG sam who is a cash happy gravy drinker.

To get 4 quality players for the grand total of £0 is very good business.

Do you think wages form part of the transfer budget? Genuine question as sometimes can mean not just fees but wages, incentives etc.

I saw him walking past Yates's once, true story.

Royalz96 This signing is stpuid, Harte may not be the quickest but he can still deliver some super free kicks into the box and corners and next season we might have to rely on set pieces more, i dont think Shorey is that much faster than Harte is he?? Also a few people saying his prem experince, so what has Hare got? also 1 of the few players in our squad who has played and scored in the champo league and played in the spanish league,

But Shorey will be the 2nd best player at set pieces in the squad. How many games will Harte miss due to age or lack of form? Key to the next 38 games will be having a left back we can play through who takes a good set piece. Countdown to Harte/Shorey getting 10-15 assists between them?

It was actually slightly before Yates's, around the Varsity/Coral area where we passed, so he may well have popped in for a beer and a burger.

Not quite sure what to make of this if it is indeed true. Was always a big fan of Shorey before his infamous last season where he soured his reputation. Certainly better on the ball than Harte and probably superior positionally, but still severely lacking in pace. Seems to have been used very sparingly by other clubs since he left us, and in truth I thought we might be aiming a little higher than this.

Still if he is coming back then no choice but to trust McDermott's judgment, but he has a lot of graft to put in if he wants to win over some doubters.

Used to see him in the bookies on the Basingstoke Road quite often when I worked up that way back in 2004/5. I remember he scored a goal that could have possibly been a pass rather than a shot. I asked him if had meant it and he said he had. Csb.

give him a chance! he had just broken into the england squad and needed to move. His attitude stank but he's coming back as a free transfer. GET OVER IT!
