It occurred to me the reason we got him over QPR may not be money, it may be football.

He wants first team football, Karacan just got injured and have you seen QPR's midfield options?

Seems a no brainer if the terms are similar and you are desperate to play as much as possible.

Absolutely, especially given the reason he left Fulham was primarily down to his lack of first team opportunities. Also explains why it's only a 3 month deal. Neither parties want to commit to a longer one if he's not playing regular football.

Thought he oozed class on Saturday tbh. Clearly a little rusty, but always wanted the ball and had great awareness on it. His inside ball to GMc in the build up to the second goal an example of that. Jem had been playing well before his injury, but in Baird I think we have an upgrade. As heartless as it sounds...the injury may have been a blessing in disguise for our promotion hopes.

Good to have an intellectual player at last - will he be reading up on his Dialectic principles while playing football or will he leave that for afters?

Would it? Leaving us with two centre-backs.

The thing that really strikes me about Baird is how well liked he is by former teammates, and fans of the clubs he has played for in the past (that speaks volumes to me), plus he just seems to me to be a hardworking, professional, on-field leader type of player.

It wasn't a loan, it was a 6 month contract and he is currently injured.
