Avon Royal Do you actually believe that those three signings were down to Adkins? Those were Anton's vanity buys and you know it.

Well that only takes yet more credibility from Adkins then. If he has been let down so badly he should do the decent thing and resign.

You really have a warped view of the world.

Why he he want to show himself as a quitter just because things he may have been promised didn't happen? He probably feels he has a job to do and this is all part of football that he has to deal with. But that doesn't mean he should be taking this team to promotion or comfortably in to the playoffs. Personally with the lack of funds, the unbalanced squads and the injuries he has had to deal with I think it is a miracle that we still occupy a play off spot.

That Reading team of 05/06 barely suffered an injury and it showed with consistency of performances. Is it no surprise that one of our better runs this season came when we put out the same side for a few games.

Some people just can't hide their dislike for him and won't acknowledge that he has done a decent job under what have been difficult times at the club, both on and off the field.

What evidence do we have that Drenthe and Bridge (and Williams?) were not Adkins signings?

Personally I think Bridge and Williams might have been ro certainly would have had his blessing had they been recommended to him, but Drenthe no. I just can't see him being a player that anyone at the club would have wanted except Anton. He just isn't the type of player that we would normally go for.

But "we" haven't normally had Adkins as manager. Anyway, just wondered whether there was any evidence more than a hunch, as to whether the summer signings were Antons or not.

The answer is no, so coolio.

Have it from player talk that both were recruited by Anton following discussions in a night club. Probably only gossip but looks likely. Bridge seems more of a Hammond signing. Adkins always seems so happy (and positive) about everything that I doubt he cared at the time. I wonder what gets Adkins down??

Im of the opinion that pretty much all the signings of the last three or so years have been club signings. They all seem to be opportunistic rather than planned, regardless of who the manager is. The only common link between all of them is Hammond, but I doubt even that is all the story.
As much as a guess as AR and P20, mind you.

Wasn't Adkins an Anton vanity signing as well, let's sign the bloke who bottled it against us last season in the Championship, after all he's got every football cliche in the book and we can both talk football bollocks and sign whatever fantasy twats we think necessary. Cue Dutch waster and "passing" football with the fittest team in the league with our new sports coach.

They guy who had his team playing better than us, who we luckily robbed the title off and who had a real good go and the premiership before being unjustly sacked. Yeah that guy.

I've had it from two players that they were Anton's buys with Drenthe having failed three medicals and Anton still wanted him. Not sure about Williams though.

I’d like to think I’ve been glass half full for much of this season but the last week has morphed me into Floyd. I still can’t snap out of it now.

Even with RTG’s fully on, there is not a cat in hell’s chance we will make top 6.

It’s uncanny how ours & QPR’s season has virtually mirrored each other. Their finances are slightly more mental obviously but what a shambles for both clubs.

It is very possible that none of the 3 relegated teams will go back up despite all being given a record amount of parachute money. What a delicious irony that is.

"We're 6th ffs"

Was your response to a comment like your own above, without fail, for the majority of this season.
Never mind "glass half full", you were down right deluded.
But as I said when winchester_royal jumped ship: fair play for admitting that you were wrong.
