Interesting that the criticism from the disaffected section of Chicago Fire fans seemed to be that VP kept changing his teams and tactics. That's the very opposite to what he's doing with us, although he is bright enough to know that you do have to have different styles of play/tactics and on occasions would need to switch between them during a game.

The Sky commentator also said he'd spoken to some of our players who had told him that, unlike some previous managers, with VP there was a Plan A, a Plan B and a Plan C and that they were expected to be fully familiar and comfortable with all of them.

The players seem to have bought in to him and Moore’s interview post Wycombe suggests he is a fully prepared and does have a plan B.

Plus 1 to why change a winning formula.

4-2-3-1 works. We've been a bit lacklustre in attack but I'd put that down to a collection of small factors

- Rino & Laurent played a bit more cautiously
- last three sides have been set up well defensively
- Joao wasn't fully fit / up for it
- Ejaria / Olise / Meite hasn't quite settled into a coherent groove

If Joao, Ejaria, Olise or Meite go a half dozen games or so without contributing, well we've got Puscas, Semedo and Aluko waiting

Our players aren't going to look great and score every game. We don't have to win every game.

Esteves is worth giving a go. Rotherham aren't the most threatening attack and we know we can rely on Holmes if need be, but he's not the best going forward. Esteves looks a danger. Even if he isn't as hot defensively, we've conceded 1 goal in the league, we can cope with being a little less solid fine.

First half was shockingly poor, summed up by the missed sitter at the end of the half.

However, it was clear we had more class than Wycombe and carried a lot more threat going forward; quality goal to win it.

Some genuinely good players in the side; inventive and exciting, backed by a solid defence.

This division isn't great this season, and while it is unlikely that we will stay at the top, I think we can still be in the top 6 by the end.

Take the 3 points and move on.

Seen Joao's goal - absolute class. First touch, turn and strength = world class, defenders did nothing wrong. Goal of the Season contender... anyone can smack a ball in front 30 yards, few can do that

Yeah the skill to first touch glance a 60 yard pass through your legs to open up space and wrong side the defender, and to keep it within your ability to control, then the strength to hold off and out fight a CB on each side before burying the shot is just brilliant.

It's a bit outrageous he even tried.

Indeed. The thing with this start, if we drop back to just picking up 1.5pts per game over the next 40 games, we'll finish on 76 and likely top 6.

Did he? I thought the touch was a bit fortunate the way it bounced between his feet but haven’t seen it closely again tbf.

Edit; nvm you’re right that was mad. Ball actually bounced first as well.

Norfolk Royal
What I did notice though is that we are much better defensively than in recent years. Put a lot of that down to Porno getting Liam Moore playing at his best again as at that level believe he is premiership standard.

The whole squad would look decent playing in Scotland.

Most we can end up on is 109 otherwise the song wouldn’t work anymore. I suppose worst case if we fcuked up and got more we could say “we’ve got the record, one-twenty-two” but it doesn’t work for me. Oh well guess we’ll settle for 109 then.

Think 110 would work.

Something else worth noting; from Sky Sports last night, it is clear that their perceived "wisdom" is that Watford, Bournemouth and Brentford are going to be the teams battling it out for Automatic promotion.

Lazy journalism for sure, (and of course, they seem to have forgotten that we have already beaten Watford, and beaten Cardiff away whilst Bournemouth only drew with them last night...) but the longer we are not regarded, and the longer we stay under the radar, the better.
