Hound Yeah would agree with all of the above really. Also on the foul for the second goal. And thought Laurent a 7 and TDB a 5 but splitting hairs

Think TDB was better than AH and Swift but was on the 5/6 benchmark. Said it before but he really needs to add something to his game, personally think he’s a little bit too average. He’s young, so there’s scope for improvement but he doesn’t offer enough IMO

Was an odd one.

Laurent has recently been the one screening the defence a bit more, which he looked better doing again. For me TDB has looked at his best bursting forward through the middle and on the left.

Today it seemed TDB was doing the sitting while Laurent did the running. The mistakes in Laurent's game seemed to resurface, breaking away and losing it a few times. Though he otherwise played pretty well. Whilst TDB was rather anonymous in the deep position which I don't think really suits him as well.

Pauno seems incapable of giving people consistent roles even when they're broadly playing the same position. I think he got Laurent and TDB the wrong way round.

TDB, let's remember, is our second top scorer. Should really be further forward. 4 goals and 1 assist is decent going forwards. Especially with half his games being rubbish out on the right.

Thought the whole midfield was poor today, laurent and dele bashiru sat on top of the cbs when in possession, while swift stood next to Carroll. Then all 3 seemed to want to push high and leave the defence exposed.

Didn't think derby were great today, but the difference between their pressing/organisation and movement off the ball compared to ours was ridiculous.

True, but my shit works. That's why you're such a fan.

At least you've dropped the "hilarious" anti semitism.

Yeah agree with this. TDB is not a CDM so why play him there?

Yes was concerned soon as the team was announced, as clear he’d play there

I think he’s been pretty poor all season in that position - gives the ball away so often - his touch isn’t good enough

He has looked decent at times in an attacking role - would have been nice to see him in swifts role possibly. Again go back to asking where the hell Drinkwater/Rino are

Thought our midfield went missing in the second half, we couldn't retain possession and barely won any second balls. The pattern of the game meant that Derby were always likely to get one and once they did, we all knew what would happen. A part of me is actually quite pleased we managed to get a point.

As frustrating as it is, I still see it as a point gained rather than 2 points lost given both teams' position before the game, Derby on a good run and ourselves obviously lacking match practice and numbers in our squad. It's telling when you have to bring on a recently turned 18 year old in Camara for our talisman Swift.

Still very much Pauno in, he has been dealt a tough hand all season and I don't think we've had one game where you can say we've had a squad that's 80% available, obviously due to the embargo that prevented us from signing players before the season kicked off and injuries and Covid throughout since. I'm not sure who would do better given our current situation but it's fair to say we need to shift 2/3 players on and pick up 2/3 loanees/freebies that are going to be reliably available week in, week out. A full back, possibly another wide man and an attacking option as well as keeping Carroll on until the end of the season.

Pauno doesn’t help by saying players should be back by a certain date but are nowhere to be seen. We are still missing Moore, Morrison, McIntyre, Yiadom, Tetek, Drinkwater, Rinomhota, Ejaria, Meite and Joao. So still ten out. It beggars belief.

This baffles me as well. I'm sure Rinomhota only suffered a relatively minor ankle knock back in September and here we are in January and there is still no update. Before we played Blackburn I remember there were reports saying he might be available, Pauno did quash them after the game saying he wasn't even close but we are so many weeks on from then and it doesn't even look like he will be appearing soon, I hope I m wrong.

There seems to be a fair few players suffering set backs in their recovery as well. First was Araruna in the summer, unfortunate, and then the next was McIntyre with his foot injury, I hope this hasn't happened again with Rino. Every time we get a couple of players back playing (such as Hoilett today) we seem to just randomly lose others, like Yiadom, Moore and Tetek who have unknown injuries.

Morrison said his comeback was delayed by a month as well. McIntyre the same. Joao was 3 months originally and it’s getting towards 4. Drinkwater and ejaria were minor muscle injuries about a month ago. Rino - god knows. Tetek, Yiaodm and Moore new injuries?

It’s possible some of these are Covid related but it’s getting well beyond a joke now.

In fairness Pauno did say some are suffering worse than others from Covid, but it sure seems tight lipped when it comes to the injury scene.

Joao is actually nearer five months now although in fairness I think that was the prognosis at the time. As for the others God knows. I’m sure some of the players you mentioned were supposedly in with a chance of playing against Luton yet over two weeks later are still unavailable.

I still don’t buy the whole injuries thing. Yes we’ve had them but most the players that are injured, whilst on paper are good, have woefully underperformed and for the most part deserved dropping anyway.

Meite and Joao are by default the only ones that haven’t been shit and that’s because they’ve not even played, and let’s not forget that Joao was an utter donkey for the second half of last season.

Fact is, it doesn’t matter much which personnel you put in, we are set up wrong from the off. We said x is underperforming play y, no y isn’t much better either let’s go back to x, oh x is injured. The shape is wrong, the game plan is wrong, the execution is wrong.

leon Serious questions need to be asked about the entire Club. It's a fcuking shambles from the top down.

This just won't do please cut out the bad language, perhaps you could ask your mum to proof read before you post!
We played well against a better team and came within a whisker of 3 points. Gotta keep MOM Andy Carroll and John Swift.

A lot of players have underperformed but I can't blame them entirely given how inconsistent our season has been. Pauno does have a point in his post-match press conference, something like 7 senior players during pre-season (with Covid disrupting that as well), the injuries throughout the season every week, our transfer window effectively ending in November and Covid again, it's rough.

Players won't be able to be at their maximum when it's chop and change every week, that much I understand. I don't doubt more can be done (like why do we seem to have a number of players suffering set backs during their recovery?) but at the same time, it's a tough situation. It's important to get rid of high wage players like Rafael and Puscas this month and bring in more reliable options. I don't trust our recruitment at all though, this embargo has been a blessing in some aspects in that we've actually been able to make some sensible signings for a change, like Dann, Hoilett and Dele-Bashiru (probably throw Carroll into that as well).

This is a big month. A big, big month.
