You forgot Brynjar, who I think could slot in effectively (when back from injury)

Huntley & Palmer
The main problem is that out of all of them, only Bikey and Sodje have played in the Prem this season when required due to injuries.

Unlike our entire squad in August last year!?!

A player will never know if he's premiership standard, until he plays in the premiership. Every player had to make their debut once!.

I'm one for believing in a player until he proves otherwise, i'd love to see one of the lesser lights given a chance, then at least we can form an opinion based on fact. The pace and style of the prem may just suit a player who looked unsure at championship level.

Pearce has made a sub appearance for 20 minutes against Burnley. You can't just throw him into a starting line up in the Prem, especially when you have more experienced players available.

I agree that hes not ready - but when do you give youngsters Premiership experience? How do they acquire it? At some stage you have to take a risk.

at Reading you do it after they've made several appearances in the cup and given you faith.

Ho do you know when he is ready? I am sure it is usually down to a gut feeling the manager has, and, in times of pressure that gut feeling will have to be very strong to make what is a bold move.

I still think, taking everything into account, i'd rather see new blood given a chance and fail, than watch someone that cost us money fail. Take pearce for example, lets say he starts saturday, puts in a blinder, and we advance to the next round. I predict threads exhalting SC and all he does, proclaiming Pearce as the new Terry and further threads on our cup ambitions and comparisons with the current Arsenal crop. Should he fail, then at least we know that, and we, and he, can get on with thing in the aftermath. There is a hell of a lot more to gain from trying things differently.

IMO

Today's Irish Star says that the deal will be done by the weekend for a fee of around €370,000.

It's more important to keep Sodje and Bikey up to match fitness in case they are required to step in (like Bikey did for Sonko on Saturday). Pearce will get a chance at Cup level as a sub if we are cruising or if one of Sodje or Bikey get injured. That's the way it happens when you are 18.

Does anyone know if the city of Cork is twinned with Brentford?
