I'm not a great stat's man so does anyone know if the same manager has taken a relegated team back to the Prem? If so then that man deserves praise indeed knowing the way I feel.

Now then Steve that's a challenge.

Ady Boothroyd still has a (slim) chance.

Y25 remember McGhee

Just which part of McGoo is comparable with SSC ?

His honour, committment to contract, integrity - or maybe they like the same pies (it's just that McGoo ate more of them)

A word of advice for Steve Coppell

by Forbury Lion » 14 May 2008 19:29

Yeah right, as if SC reads hobnob.

My advice is to take as much time as you need to make the right choice. Whilst Reading fans, the chairman, the staff, the players and even the media may want you to stay they will respect your decision to leave.

However, If you do decide to stay make sure it is for the right reasons as historically Reading fans have not taken too kindly to successfull managers insisting they're staying only to change their mind the next day (Mark McGhee) or shortly after stating at a fans forum they're in for the long run only to demand a move as soon as a so called bigger championship team tap them up (Alan Pardew).

Stay and we will love you, go and we will respect your decision and love you..... chop and change your mind and we will get upset (although I seriously wouldn't expect any McGhee/Pardew style pantomine hate).

I believe we'll know his final decision tomorrow - a little bird told me today. They also told me that there was a big argument amongst a number of the players on the team bus on the way to Derby.

Yeah but not too long.
There's some serious surgery required to the squad and he's going to need all the summer. (minus his holls of course)

cheers.. I like the fact even the BBC can't spell :P:

BBC Sport However, Hahnemann voiced his support for manager Steve Coppell, who is yet to decide if he ill continue at the Madejski Stadium.

I would like to know... just because I'm interested.. O well

Anyway, its good to know someone in the dressing room was gutted, apparently Matejovski was as well... but thats pretty understandable. Marcus is right though:

Marcus Hahnemann "We lost to Fulham at home, drew with Wigan and lost to Spurs, so yes, we beat Derby, but Fulham won four out of five and they deserve to stay up and we deserve to go down."

Thats exactly what sent us down

Which numbers? (I'm discounting number 13 as they travelled seperately).

Well Marcus Hahnemann says it didn't seem to be a big deal to some. They didn't appear bothered.

I don't need to know who they are I just want them out.

Wasn't the actual meaning that not all the players took it as hard as him and Murts for example, WHo took it really really badly.

Doesn't mean theres necessarily a problem. Although I wouldn't be surprised if some of them weren't all that bothered. Doobs and Oster have been around the block a fair bit as a reasonable example of why they wouldn't be outwardly too distraught. Shorey, Hunt and co might not care because they think they're leaving.

I wouldn't read too much into that one comment just yet. The rumour about the bus is more worrying, especially after the other rumours before the season ended, but hardly surprising the way emotions might have been rather raw.

Well what Hahnemann said was:

Marcus Hahnemann "I think some people might not be as devastated as I am - it might be because of personal situations with some guys leaving."

stay steve thread

by friday fan » 15 May 2008 13:36

This is a post to acknowledge the work Steve Coppell has done for Reading FC - Steve has been the most sucessful Reading manager and this thread is open to those who want to register only comments inviting or asking him to stay as manager.

In the past some have said that players read the posts - for those players who do, Steve Coppell gave you the chance to play in the premiership, many of you wouldn't have ever got he chance. If there are players reading this then make right the relegation by acheiving promotion as champions next season.

Please only messages of support for Steve
