Vision - I don't know if you've mentioned this already, but why don't you tell them about when Stoke fans mocked Kitson for being a ginger?

Vision This is the same Kitson that gor quite irate a few years back when Reading fans dished out a bit of gingerism right?

Players couldn't care less about the stick they take from a clubs fans if the club is then going to fill their pockets with more than their old club. If anything, I can imagine a player liking the fact that the fans are vocal and passionate enough to make some noise and create an atmosphere.

Again as mentioned (sarcastically) a few posts earlier [/quote]

I was talking about the abuse Reading fans gave him....is that mentioned earlier?

Am I losing the ability to read?

What, are you trying to suggest that Kitson didn't completely enjoy 'Ginger Day'? Do you reckon Stoke would celebrate his arrival with a 'Ginger Day', or do you need to have two ginger players to qualify for one (tho I guess Stoke might have loads of ginger players).

I was actually referring to when he flicked two fingers up to the Reading fans whilst he was being abused when playing against us for Cambridge.

(unless I completely dreamt up that episode too)

I was at that game and the fans around me were horrible to him. Mind you, he scored against us so he got all he derserved.

Strangely definitive on thisislondon:

Premier League new boys Stoke bid £4m for Reading striker Kitson

Dave Kitson is on his way to Stoke City after Reading accepted a £4m bid.

The initial fee for the former non-league striker is believed to be in the region of £2m with the remainder based on Stoke's success during their first season in the Barclays Premier League.

Birmingham also approached Steve Coppell but he was reluctant to allow them to speak to Kitson because he sees them as one of Reading's main rivals for promotion from the Championship next season.

Can't say I'd be happy with £2M.

In the Mail as well:

This feels like being dumped by the love of your life for your cousin who's not as nice, but just happens to be earning slightly more than you.

I think seeing Kitson playing for Stoke might actually (no joke intended) make me cry...

I think Thisislondon is run by the same company as the mail so I wouldn't be surprised if they have the same news.

Also look at the stories - they are identical.

Maybe he didn't have a cold.

edit - just checked the mail and the evening standard are run by the same company (the evening standard's website is http://www.thisislondon.co.uk)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evening_Standard

All this is worrying nonetheless...

If (though it's increasingly looking like when) Kitson goes I'm going to be absolutely wounded.

Might not even leave the house for a day or two.

If we're letting him go for a mere £2 million up front then Coppell should be shot. Valuing Harper and Hunt at double Kitson would be an absolute disgrace.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Somehow I can't see Coppell haggling over finances with clubs and agents - Hammond deals with transfers.

I thought Coppell was left to deal with the football side of things as he sees fit? Or did I imagine reading his quotes? Yes, Hammond will have involvement with some negotiations, but as Coppell said himself today, if his valuation of a player is not met then we are apparently not interested in selling.

I'd like to see that quote - the articles I have seen refer to bids needing to match "the Club's" valuations of players.

Naurally Coppell will have input, but there is no way the market valuation of a player will be something done by any single individual.

Sorry that doesn't fit your one-eyed view of that ails RFC.

Now that other sides know Kitson may be available for a little as 2 million (initially), I would be amazed if nobody else comes in.
