Thank you, Stephen Hunt, for one of the best moments I have seen in the Premier League:

Could you all please start a chant for Hammond at the next home game please ?

Arch
Ark Royal Not unless we use some of this pikey money to buy a new striker to replace The Doyler. That has to be No.1 priority. Smith or Nugent please!

Why one of those two, Ark? I have to admit I've never been all that excited abotu the prospect of spendnig seven figures on Smith. Nugent I think is a terrific talent, but it's somewhat worrying that he hasn't kicked on. I'd be enthusiastic about signing him, but not to the exclusion of anyone else. I'd definitely like to see us sign a real goal threat, but I'm not goign to throw my hat into the ring for a certain player purely on the grounds that we've been linked with them in the press.

Nugent would be a superb signing if he didn't have sawdust instead of a brain

Great bit of business from Mr Coppell at the end of the day, with some extra Hammond juice.

A little bit of re-investment wouldn't go amiss now.

Let's be honest, for a time in the first season in the PL he was untouchable; our very own Robbie Savage if you like. He wound the fuck out of the opposition and was playing well.

From then on however it was downhill. His one get out clause even if he was playing badly was that he was a trier in an Andy Hughes style, but once he stopped trying he looked every part the ex-Brentford player. Paul Brooker anyone?

Short memories

For the first half of last season he was excellent and set up loads of our goals.
For the second half of last season he was rubbish, but he wasn't on his own in that.
He served us well, and at his best he is just about good enough for the Premiership.
Good luck to him!

This must be a firesale, Hunt is worth at least £5m, it says so in his contract.

Maybe it gives Hunty the excuse to only be 60% of the play he thinks he is.

Also LOL @ people taking the piss about going to Hull. Given its a World Cup year and Trappatoni has already publicly warned Duff that playing in the Championship could affect his chances then much like Doyle the prospect of playing regularly in the Premiership albeit for a team amongst the favourites for relegation seems a valid option.

Yeah, good point about the move and his international ambitions, Vision.

My Hull insider says that their ill player (Ashby?) is worse than originally thought, so they were "desperate" for a replacement. Hunt fits the bill - energetic and good with a dead ball. If he has the heart for the battle this time, it could be a good move for everyone.

Correction: Ashbee, the one with a degenerative bone condition.

 it brings a tear to my eyes... a tear of absolute joy :D
i was begining to think he'd never go and id have to put a brave face on and cheer him (any player who wears a royals shirt no matter how bad gets my encouragement).
oh the joy... i hope it was at least a semi decent sum. i feel kinda guilty that a club had to done out of money like hull have just been

It's kinda nice that the club in question is managed by the shy and retiring Phil Brown. I am sure the two of them will get on just fine.

Maybe they could tell each other how wonderful they are in training every day...nice goatee boss, nice hair Stephen, you're the best manager I've played for boss, you're the best trainer, you're the best, no you etc etc ad infinitum until Championship football is secured.

I am sure "Mr Motivator" Phil Brown will be able to get the best out of him.

I have just been to page 6 and those comments are spot on.
Shorey brought the best out of Hunt and Convey and I reckon playing alongside Bertrand could have reinvigorated Hunt this season.

nice to see the contrast bewteen this and th eharper thread last week
shows how a real legend handles this kind of thing, and how that impacts on the feelings toward him from the fans-and thats despite hunt contributing more to the team last year than harps.

i reckon he'll do ok, hell up his workrate etc.........at least until the next time his contract is being negotiated

good luck to him
glad hes gone

Terminal Boardom
FiNeRaIn Great news. Prevented him from going to bradford- gave him the best years of his career and for the last eyar and a half he's been wanting away thinking he's too good for the club and playing like a dick. Get fvcked hunt and thanks for the 2 million.

My point EXACTLY!

A year before that, though, he did turn down a firm offer of a move to Sunderland that would have made him a lot more money than even the new contract meant for him here. That was the definite loyalty to SC and Reading shown then - how long does he have to stay loyal....?

Anyway, that's all history now - and I think everyone agrees that getting rid is the best possible thing for everyone, now.
