Personally rather we loaned Rodgers or Howard to Wycombe and kept Davies for ourselves.

But at least he'll get games and develop.

Out of interest, can anyone name any loaned out players, which can be be from any club, going to any club that turned out ultimately to be excellent players and then picked up large transfer fees or glowing reports.

Top of my head i can only think of one, and that's our very own Matthew Upson.

People talk about Davies coming back an excellent player etc etc, but if you have it, you surely have it and dont need to be loaned out for that surely?

How about Jermain Defoe and Rio Ferdinand at Bournemouth , Steve Sidwell at Brentford and Brighton as starters...

How about Lampard and Terry, Johnny Evans is about the only one left at Utd who went on loan, Glenn Johnson spent time on loan as did the likes of Peter Crouch, James Milner

Actually you can add Ben Foster to Evans at Utd

Obviously dont forget Simon Cox either

I think this is the last we will see of Mooney. He will leave in the January window. Where depends on how he does at Charlton.

Hopefully Mooney will sign for Charlton in Jan, small fee no more, then he can rattle in the goals that take them up, best way to move up a league if via promotion with a club, much harder to sign in a summer window, seems to fail so often.

And FWIW apparently Antonio had another good cameo for the Saints.

Never should have sent him back out on loan IMO. We needed to get rid of some of the dead wood like Cisse, not the promising players with a bit of drive and quality.

We'll have a fricking awesome League One team next year with the likes of Siggurdsson, Karacan, Davies, Pearce & Church.

Sig, Karacan & Davies could be a devastating midfield at that level. TBH they could be at this level with some patience and a bit more experience.

One good game on loan at a lower level does not make a player a Championship class.

Even if Davies doesn't improve, he will be at the right level for the club next season. We could be quite good in League 1.

We might even be able to play Rodgers preferred formation and style at that level. We should certainly have players a significant cut above everyone else.

Less fatalism, guys. We have plenty of time to stay up, even if in the end that means a new manager. It's at least good that we've hit this slump now rather than later on. Charlton pretty well had to begin planning for League 1 in February.

We shouldn't start thinking that going down could be a blessing in disguise. We don't need to go down to rebuild. And there are pitfalls. Madejski could simply repeat this summer's process and try to get rid of players on Championship wages in favour of ones on Division 1 wages, which would leave us unable to compete with the bigger clubs of that division--whoever remains of Leeds, Charlton, Southampton, Norwich, Millwall, plus Notts County and maybe Ipswich or Derby even.

We're a selling club, anyone with an ounce of quality will be sold in the summer what ever the division we're in.
