If we have missed out on Adkins as well, and we're left with punts like Dolan, Enrique, Coyle.. then and only then would I be happy with Curbishley or even a Hughes.

I have to say though, Zingarevich clearly wants a name or proven manager to take us forward. I cannot see him settling for Dolan. Until the end of the season if he cannot secure who he wants, but not on a permanent basis. It just wouldn't make any sense.

melonhead id take curbs any day

anyone wanting poyet or adkins but not considering curbs is a bit of an idiot

imo

Melonhead, let me never be rude to you in my time on HNA. Respect for standing up for what is not popular at the moment. People are scared to speak as they fear the onslaught of the clueless. I thought I was one of the few with any balls.

Anyone who doesn't think Curbs is one of our best options is, I'm sorry to say, pretty f*cking thick or just ignorant.

That's actually reasonable to be fair.

Much as I think Curbs >>>>>>>> Adkins or Poyet I respect anyone who thinks they'd rather Adkins or poyet so that's fine. Bt yes we are assuming Poyet is out because he said so, and Adkins isn't an option (if Fordham is to be believed). Hence my renewed drive for Curbs recently.

Curbs had an excellent record and what he achieved at Charlton was remarkable. Then the fans became restless because they were not progressing above 8th or thereabouts and he left. We all know what happened after he left - just goes to show about being careful what you wish for.

His record is certainly better than any other candidates, but he has been out for a long time and the question is whether football has moved on and whether he would know the market for available players etc. He would be a big risk.

Fair post. But Dolan/ another untried randomly wouldn't? I know what risk I'd go for!

If Adkins is definitely out the running I'll be STUNNED if Anton isn't talking to Curbs right now.

Football has moved on since Curbishley and besides, he would be in a job right now if he were that good a proposition. Heaven knows there's been enough managerial movements in the last year or so.

For that reason, I'm out.

Divvy Poyet's odd dropping again. He was at 20's first thing this morning but is now 9/1 on BetFair.

Move on

£10 free bet gone on Mark Hughes at 33/1... Not much of a gambler, and that's why!

The comments are embarrassing, and I agree with their sentiment. Reading have gone from being proud underdogs going against the grain in their own way to becoming the next laughing stock in tabloid town.

We have become another pathetic excuse for a club á la Wolves, Pompey & co.

We had class, alas no more :(

97 pages and I still haven't seen any definitive statements from anybody regarding the new manager. More use of the words 'understand, suggest, reported, led to believe, etc. than you can shake a stick at.

I am sure GP will stay at Brighton so why no official statement from either club - puzzling.

No one with two braincells questions his record. It's the fact he's been out of management for 5 years, seemingly without effort to get another job for a long time and I believe comments about wanting to go straight back into the Prem that have me worried.

He'd have been my first choice when Rodgers and McDermott were appointed. But he's done literally nothing in the meantime.
