Don't spoil it. I like the idea some of us still think we walk into a room with a sack of cash to buy a player.

Could anyone please explain why the assumption is always made that as soon as a transfer happens that we are rolling in money??? We saw this earlier in the season with the Mariappa/Kebe transfers, 'Why haven't we spent the £5M??', because chances are we don't have it. A lot of transfers these days are paid in installments due to the sums involved, and transferring on a player you are still paying probably complicates things further. I am not saying we have no money, I am just saying that any due fees may not arrive for a while.

1871 not 1998 Billy Sharp is still without a club for a reason, and it isn't for lack of interest. Reading are just waiting for the money to buy him; which begs the question why haven't we used the Long money that's just come in? Or is that a decision being left for the new owners.. and that maffff lad people back up as being reliable said a deal was done and we're just waiting for funds. Hopefully that's true. I really cannot see this window passing without a signing or two coming in.

The "Long money" instantly arrives in the bank account doesn't it?

That's irrelevant. The parachute money arrives at the end of the season, but you budget for it and operate knowing it's coming. We know that money is coming and we could if we wanted to, use it.

And they may well have already allocated it too

Why do you think they would immediately use that money in the transfer market?

Do you not appreciate the company's priorities may be different to those you have or know about?

So by the same token any transfer fee we would pay for a new player would also be paid in instalments rather than all up front, yes?

Or perhaps we are not interested or perhaps the Long money has not yet arrived or perhaps we're looking to see what other options are out there depending on whether the full take over is concluded this month.

Is noelgallagher still standing by his comment that it's already done and dusted and it will be announced later this week or has it all gone quiet over there...

Norfolk Royal
Major Inconvenience Two parties just means it'll up the price, so whoever wins will have no cash left over for any transfers at all.

It almost certainly means another 10p on the hotdogs in the concourse as well.

Do you think they'll shrink another 2 inches like they did between Prem and Champs?

JIM 10 days left . no new owner . no new players no hope.    HELP

New players? Who needs new players?

Finding a style that works is like finding 11 new players....!

Form is temporary, class is permanent.
At the mo we don't have the class with probably just one player (Mc Carthy) being up to Prem football.

We don't need Prem class at the moment - we need promotion class. We can sort Prem class when we get there...

Of course, but Adkins clearly wants Sharp and that money is enough and change to get him, so you'd hope they'd at least let him have the one signing this month.

We are in big trouble if we lose Alf or Pog. Who goes up front then? Blackman? Hope not, he's great out wide but not up front. Hal? Christ I hope not. Ugwu? We're rolling the dice then.

I heard a rumour that the club were waiting for this forum to reach 100 pages before making an official statement about the new owners

What's happened to Dom Samuel this season? During the summer everyone was claiming he was good enough to be our 4th striker but he's hardly even made the bench so far

You mean like we spectacularly failed to sort the last time we got there!

Have people not learnt from Brian's sad demise?

So that works both ways. We strike deals where we don't pay the full fees up front!
