urz13 Just imagine if TSI hadn't come in...McDermott and possibly Hammond would be gone, Kebe would be gone, we wouldn't have any of Roberts, Mullins, Connolly or Cywka, and we'd be a struggling mid table side

Possibly. Or we might have gone on a good run anyway. Because #brianpullsrabbitsoutofthehat.

brian wouldn't have been here though. eamonn dolan would instead have been trying to pull rabbits out of a hat, with no kebe, cywka, roberts or connolly. if we were lucky we would have finished mid-table.

PieEater I see the fact that we are signing Mullins as further proof they are serious. If things were going awry the money for this loan wouldn't have been available

i would agree with that. mullins mentioned how close we were to bringing him here last summer but it was wages that killed the move. not because the player was greedy but because we have a strict wage structure and couldn't find a happy medium with the player.

I'd be interested to know more detail about that. Was it another case, like that of Tommy Smith, where we were outcompeted by a club who paid above the market rate when they couldn't afford it? If so, then how fitting that they now lose him to us because they can't afford to pay him. A part of me doesn't like scavenging off a wounded club, but in this case it seems like a sort of justice--maybe Brian and Hammond think that way too.

no. he was a portsmouth player when we approached pompey for him. we agreed a deal only for it to fall through when discussing terms with the player. it was quite a wage drop and fair enough mullins didn't fancy it. i'm lead to believe it is still a wage cut now, but not by a great deal. in the end it was an easy decision for the player to leave the financial mess at pompey behind and come to a club with a positive vibe, and the bonus that it's the club he grew up supporting.

apparently we tried to sign him before that as well, so i assume that was when he left palace for west ham.

Yeah, well all very well, but just how much are we paying on a month by month (or pay as you play) basis for a past it player who - like Kitson (£20k) and Ben Haim (£38K) - was probably being paid over the odds by Portsmouth.?!

I hope this isn' t the sign of the Club going mad in the same direction.

He won't have agreed to come here for toffee and the fact that he is a Reading lad (etc balh blah blah) never seemed to influence him in his prime.

What's that saying? If you go through life Afraid to make a mistake, You'll Spend most of you're life doing absolutely nothing?

Cheer up FFS. We aren't going mad and we sure aren't spending 20k on any one players wages since the takeover proposal was announced. Yet  And we've spent a minimal amount in transfer fees (compared to Wet Sham anyway  )

Trust in BMc and NH, It was their decision to bring the recent transfers in.

Ultimately we have to pay him more than he'd actualy recieve at Pompey, as opposed to what he had been contracted to receive

So about £6.08 per hour

It would be interesting to know if it's till the end of the season or the end of the contract year (July)

Why on earth would we want him on loan after the season finishes?

Does it make a difference? He's on loan one way or another until the end of the season, and then he's a free transfer.

Friday's Legacy i'm lead to believe it is still a wage cut now, but not by a great deal

Given that Pompey aren't actually able to pay him at the moment, then he'd actually be getting a significant pay rise if we paid him the national minimum wage....

Hampshire Royal TSI seem to be playing a very long game!!

Why? We were told it would not be concluded until the end of March.

A players contract year runs until after the end of the season. As I understand it, one of the sticking points to this loan was who would pick up his wages bill in May and June as it was a loan with a view to purchase. So the difference is who pays for those additional 2 months of wages.

Jonny Mad must be tearing his wig out. Had he held on for a few more months he could have doubled the price

No he wouldn't. Without the TSI money we wouldn't be where are now are.
