Snowball Not hard to imagine 4-4-2

Feds

Harte - Mills - Kish - Griff

Kebe - 2 from 4 - McAnuff (although Pearce at CB with Kish defensive MF might be interesting)

2 from Hunt/Long/Church

Where's Jake Taylor's best position? Could he take the Gylfi position?

Jake Taylor can supposedly play the Gylfi role but it would be a lot to expect from an 18 year old that has never been on loan. I would like to see him given a chance but it would be a massive risk and one that I doubt that McD would take. Scott Davies could also do the job but the club seem to be indicating that they don't think he is good enough but again what do we have to lose but give it a try.

Agree on Taylor, but then we threw him on at right-back
so presumably we have a lot of faith in the lad

Although Taylor's defending was poor the other night I thought going forwards he looked very classy with the ball. We may have another star in the making.

With our main goal threat gone, I only see one rational formation.

1-1-8

F*ck 4-4-2 or 4-5-1

Assuming Hendrie signs, I think McD would play him in the hole in the 4-2-3-1 formation. Don't like the sound of that though....

Harte is not a left back. He is far too slow for that in League 1, so why we'd play him there I don't know. I'd rather have Pearce at centre back and move Griffin across, or else play Kelly or Williams there (or even Cummings).

I'd play:

-----------Federici------------
Griffin--Mills--Zurab---Kelly
--------Karacan--Tabb------
McAnuff----------------Kébé
---------Church---Hunt------

or maybe put Taylor in as a straight replacement for Gylfi. With Kelly injured, I'd have Williams or Cummings there, and until Tabb is fit I'd put Howard next to Karacan.

Quite like the look of that line-up. All things considering....although our midfield and strikers won't win many headers.

I could try to explain it myself, but it's so much easier to just point you to relevant pages on Zonal Marking and Jonathan Wilson's Guardian column.

The moral of the story seems to be, it depends who you're playing. So many want to talk tactics in a vacuum

Royal With Cheese Just score more goals than you let in.

The only thing you need to tell the team.

I predict at least a dozen dull 1-0 wins with Mills and Harte topscorers on about 7 each..at least we might stay up

Unless Jimmy recaptures last years great form and makes things more watchable..but someone has got to get on the end of the crosses..

Long / Church..cannot see it...Noel...maybe

Perhaps with all these new defenders Mills can play CF
