READING 3 NOTTINGHAM FOREST 0, 2003
A consummate second half performance, inspired by Kevin Watson, thrashed the team who were European champions in my youth. The day I realised that little-old Reading might be on the verge of something big. Then Pardew buggered off and it was delayed by a couple of years, but still happened in the end.

1. Simod Cup Final - my first trip to Wembley, standing on the terraces with 40,000 Royals' fans. 4 goals in the sunshine including a belter from Gilkes.

2. 3-2 v Palace. As mentioned before, had it all. Great atmosphere, a spectacular overhead kick equaliser and a late Sonko winner.

3. 3-3 Blackburn away. Came from behind 3 times, great away fan friendly pub, lots of inflatables, saw Steve Coppell on the way home. Would've been perfection had Ivar's late winner not been disallowed denying us a place in Europe.

Other memorables 2-1 v Wolves (but largely only for the last 2 minutes), Play off finals (but both ended in tears), 6-0 stuffing of West Ham, 4-3 defeat at Anfield in Lge Cup and 3-1 win over Liverpool in league.

Don't recall that being a dire one. It was one of the best goalless draws I'd ever seen (until injury time when it became a score draw).

I remember my mates falling over the row of seats in front following the particularly mental equaliser celebration.

I've got the Ipswich games confused...the season before, we drew 1-1 and Owusu scored from a Murray cross

And besides, it's "top games" not "most memorable"

All moments of sheer exultation, but that's what you go to football hoping to experience, isn't it?

1) Simod Cup Final, but the semi-final actually has to come close.
2) Leicester the day we went up - the game was fairly forgettable, but the 45 minutes after the final whistle were, singularly, the greatest 45 minutes of RFC-following I have ever felt and nothing will top that. I was blubbing.
3) Brentford away - who didn't want Curo's babies that day?

Had to leave Anfield out of a photo-finish race, though...

So, my top 3 games - based on the fact that they are most memorable to me;

Reading 4 Luton 1 - Simod Cup Final. A win at Wembly, no more to say.
Reading 2 Wigan 1 - Play off semi. The Madejski with an absolutely electric atmosphere!
Reading 3 'Boro 2 - First Premier League match, a historic moment.

Close fourth
Reading 4 Wolves 2 - Always loved night time games at Elm Park and this is the one that sticks in my memory for some reason.

The Ipswich Reading 1 - 1 Jan 2005 was my first Reading game at the Mad Stad - for various personal reasons had not been to a live game in years - It was brilliant reminded me of everything I loved about football and I have only missed 2 home games since that match.

Cambridge U 2 Reading 2, April 1976. The point seals Reading's first promotion for 50 years.
Newport 0 Reading 2, October 1985. See above. When Reading's second goes in, I nearly brain the Guy behind me with the plaster cast on my left arm.
Reading 2 Wigan A 1, May 2001. Play-off semi. When Reading's second goes in, I graze both shins on the seats in front and pull a stomach muscle

I cannot understand why the club never brought out a DVD of the entire game. Feelings of pride,despair,hope,exultation and then a nail biting finish.

1. Reading 2 Bolton 1 1995. Friday night, the most crazy i ever saw Elm Park go, just fairytale stuff at the time.
2. Reading 1 Coventry 1. Simod Cup Semi 88. Better than the final for me.
3. Reading 3 Middlesbro 2 2006. the club spent 135 years waiting for that game. Finally we made it.

1) Reading 2-1 Wigan, p-off semi 2001. Absolute spazdomonium when we scored, I thought my head was going to explode. It seemed like we had buried 6 years of mediocrity, frustration and misery in an electric 3 minutes at the end of this game. And 20,000+ people watching a Reading home game was a bit for someone of my generation.

2) Oxford 1-3 Reading, March 2000. Reading had been progressively more guff for 5 seasons but we were finally starting to get some pride back int he club. We'd suffered some awful defeats to Oxford in recent years but this was a come-from-behind cakewalk and showed we were back on the up. Remember Mad Dog and the Mexican wave? Remember RFC fans taking bits of the Manor Ground home with them as souvenirs? Remember the running battles before and afterwards?

3) Reading 3-0 Wolves, April 1996. Elm Park at its best. Packed crowd under floodlights and a thrashing of a former manager to secure survival. And still the best goal I have ever seen, Jimmy Quinn's keepie-ups, turn and smash. F*ck off Mark McGhee.....
