Because we are hard to beat. 1 defeat in 15
Because we are a good cup side under Brian, and we are essentially in a cup semi now

Because whoever we face at Wembley (small assumption made there) will be a Massive Club and so the weight of expectation will be on them, not us.

Because we can wear our home kit in both semi final legs and at Wembley because we are from The Royal County of Berkshire.

Tony Le Mesmer
Archie's penalty Why is it home leg second for the higher teams? Cos of extra time?

Well its supposed to be an advantage but i would doubt that. For us, its definately a bonus to be at home 1st if its to be swansea. there wont be many goals over the 2 legs and whoever scores 1st will probably win the tie.

So home 1st suits me fine. 5th time lucky? try telling that to Preston who have not won in 7 attempts.

Or Brentford.

Because we are not favourites this time.....and it would be a major surprise if we won it.

I do think the format of the play offs is flawed and there is little advantage for finishing third. To make it more of an advantage for finishing higher I reckon 3rd should play 6th at home in a one leg game and likewise 4th V 5th with winners of both playing in final as usual.

The Royals have the greatest supporters, as demonstrated when they turned out for the Wedding.

One reason?? The play-offs are effectively cup-ties and we have done well in cup competitions - especially when viewed as "underdogs" - since Brian became manager.

Yes, thank you Strap - I believe I corrected myself - we've played AWAY first leg in the past and we *should* be HOME first leg this time - so we'll win the play-off final now!

Maybe a stupid question.. Is the away goal rule used in the play offs?

Cheers. Anyone know why it isn't used? Seems strange to have home/away ties but not use the away goal rule.

IMO 3rd should be guaranteed a Wembley place. 4th play 7th, 5th play 6th, winners play for the right to play v 3rd at Wembley

I agree that 3rd place should get a guaranteed final place. Think that the team 3rd from bottom of the PL should join in the SF stage to 'fight for their place'. That would make the current SFs effectively 1/4 finals and the winners of the SF would go to Wembley for the final.

3rd from bottom PL v 6 place
4th v 5th

Winners play to decide who goes to Wembley.
