To put it in context. I got up at 8 this morning. Watched a fuk awful game. Walked 3 miles to a station and missed the train by about 10 minutes. Then got to Nuneaton to find the next two trains were cancelled and had to get a taxi to Leicester, so I could get on a train to London and then come back up to Cambridge. I got home at 12.25.

Right now I think we play shit football and have completely lost our way, our season has been played out as not good enoug for the play offs bar an 8 game winning streak, so I have very little hope of us somehow getting back into the form we've only found for 8 games and managing to beat any of the play off sides who have all spent most of the season being significantly better than us.

So it's non-ironic negativity.

That's impressive seeing as it's only 12.15 now.

My mistake, 11.25. I take it all back, we're going to win the Play offs.

At least we are home first, anyone traveling to swansea away can brace themselves for a pitch invasion, a swansea party and then a long drive home. We'll play well and lose on pens or some dodgy refereeing decision as normal. Usual script.

I agree with most of the so-called doom merchants above (I would actually call them realists).

I'm not in the least bit excited because it all brings back memories of Burnley in the PO's a couple of seasons ago.
I can't recall our end-of-season form leading into those two games, but what I do remember is that we were bloody awful and totally out-classed, especially in the home tie.
We are the poorest team out of the four in the PO's this time, as I think we were a couple of seasons ago. I didn't feel at all proud wearing my Reading shirt today, walking back to the car for half an hour hearing several comments from Coventry fans like 'you haven't got a hope in the play-offs', 'Premier League? You're having a laugh' and 'we should have won it today'. I didn't even bother responding to them because I knew they were all correct.

The fact is, in the last 3 games we have been bloody awful, and mediocre for the rest of the season, bar the 8 games. The BBC website referred to today's game as 'entertaining'. Was the reporter actually at the same game as I was?? There was very little quality on show from either side, especially us, but admittedly they did look fairly decent going forward at times (unlike us) and definitely should have won it. It somehow reminded me of a division one play-off final at Wembley...big ground, good sized crowd, mediocre football. Maybe I blinked and missed it, but did we force their goalie into making a single save for 90 minutes?? 25 quid plus travelling expenses to see that! One thing's for certain, I won't be giving my hard-earned to those over-paid very average footballers (Adam Fed being the exception) for the rest of the season at least, based on what I've seen over the last 3 games.

We were pathetic today, and if that's the sort of form we are carrying into the PO's, may the Lord help us!
Premier League? We're definitely having a laugh

After reading the Coventry forum I now feel that we have been truly blessed to see some of the football we have this season!

Agree with the rest of your post, but we were not poor against burnley. We dominated both ties, they got a silly penalty up there to win and then at the madstad they didn't even have a clear cut chance, they had two long rangers from 25-30 yards that usually fly wide and just happened to go in - they were very lucky. Thats just how our season went all the luck went against us, just like wolves a few years previous we dominated the home leg and got sucker punched by an alex rae goal. Fed up of seeing teams celebrate in our ground getting to wembley or winning promotion, thank god we are at home first this time. If we can get a 1-0 win at home i'll be oxf*rd ecstatic as we can really absorb some of swansea attacking play at their pace and counter them with the pace of kebe and mcanuff. That said, I am 90% sure we'll be comprehensively beaten over both legs and I am expecting to lose. We peaked too early and are going off the ball again. Swansea's to lose IMO.

Shocked by the negativity. Anything can happen - like Brian said this is cup football now, and we have been pretty good at that recently.

To the original question, absobloodylutely.

Anything can happen.

If you're not excited by the playoffs then you need to find another sport.

I'm sort of excited, with a pessimistic tinge. If the team can't get motiviated for those 2 games, there's no hope really. We should have played yesterday's game as a rehearsal - but didn't - so I'm expecting us to be all over Derby like a rash next Saturday - setting out their stall for the play-offs. We have GOT to get Kebe fit for the next few games though, imo.

Friday night under the floodlights should make for a proper atmosphere vs the welsh.

Stewards need to enforce a no sitting policy.

Come on you welsh feckers . Let's be having you.

I would be if I had half a chance of getting ticket for either leg or hopefully the final, but I bet they are snapped up by those jumping on the bandwagon without the real fans who go week on week, home and away, getting a look in.

Svlad Cjelli But I find I can't get too excited about it - not sure what it is, but it might be the way our form has evaporated in the past week and out play is now so slow and turgid, or it might be the 4 times I've got excited about play-offs and been let down that I'm finding it hard to make an emotional investment in this one.

^^^^^^^^^
I got to this point two years ago and, despite being a ST holder, refused to attend the PO semi finals and was vindicated in my decision. So - no excitement at all. The Play Offs are crap and just a cynical way of making more cash out of us gullible fans. For the past 3 months its been Play Offs this, Play Offs that, but for two of the four teams that make it, the dream will be over in a little over a week, and for one of the remaining two, the biggest disappointment possible, on the biggest possible stage, looms.

The only proper way to get promoted is like we did 5 years ago - in style, fully deserving of a place in the Prem.
