PEARCEY Hold my hands up. I got it massively wrong about him. I remember watching him in despair in October 2009 when we played Cardiff and were losing 1-0. They were down to 10 men yet he refused to cross over the halfway line and looked a little lost.
He has come on leaps and bounds and is really one to look out for next season.
Well done Mr Cummings.

!! This !!

He's like a new signing. Brilliant tonight!! He could split me in half I'm so happy

Very happy to say agreed. When Cummings first turned up I was unimpressed, but the guy has proved me wrong, and with Reading players I am always happy with that.

It was telling that every Reading player I spoke to mentioned the performance of Shaun Cummings. The 22-year-old right-back appeared to be surplus to requirements last summer and was left out of the Royals pre-season tour. He had made just one appearance since February but with Jimmy Kebe and Hal Robson-Kanu both injured, Cummings played on the right of midfield on Tuesday and, as Long acknowledged, was unlucky not to be named man of the match.

Hunt added: "Cummings might have been out of position but he played out of his skin. The thing you have to realise about it is that everybody in our group trusted him to do it. That is how strong we are as a squad."

Kes is right, Karacan's first touch is appalling. effective in the position though.

^^ and that's what we've got over Swansea I believe - we play for each other, with each other. Cardiff were a team of individuals and Swansea look a little like that too. Have to agree that Cummings that played out of his skin. Schards was dumbfounded when he saw he was playing, he thought we should have put Tabb in there, but it just goes to show that, as always, McD knows his players better than we do. In McD we trust!

Makes me proud to see stuff like this. They're a good bunch of guys, and they appear to look after each other. This season is testament to how far a harmonious and determined group mentality can take you.

Well done last night Shaun, I was really impressed. Definitely a good prospect for the future.

He bloody ought to, he sees them every day in training.

Always thought Cummings looked a tidy player who just needed to settle in and play in a team in decent form with a bit of protection. Under Rodgers were were awful and he was totally exposed. No wonder he looked a bit like a rabbit in the headlights sometimes.

I know exactly what you meant RL. I'm sure we'd all have improved opinions if we got to see the players every day. Some of us still wouldn't know what they were talking about ever, but at least they'd have more to base their opinion on.

LOLLY @ most definitely me. I'm not the one who has to repeatedly have the club finances explained to me every six months.

I'm talking about the TEAM and the PLAYERS, I doubt even McD is as so totally clued up on club finances as you are.

Maybe I should have used one so you understood my post was also sarcastic. :P

He's come a long way from missing out on the pre-season tour to playing well out of position in a play-off semi-final.
I really thought he had no future at the club. Now we may have to look over our shoulders trying to keep hold of him this time next season.

Agreed. They play as a very effective unit. Hardly concede any goals, renowned for their ball retention and passing, play attractive football... We will have to be at the very top of our game to defeat them. Which we will.

Its definitely going to be a game of 2 very contrasting styles and although Swansea have the better players IMO we have the edge. Alot of the current players will be looking to prove Rodgers wrong for dropping them i.e. Long, Mills, Karacan and Cummings (if he plays). But I suppose Rodgers will be aware of that will be trying equally hard to prove alot of our supporters wrong too. It's going to be an exciting Final either way. :)

Team spirit clearly matters.

Cardiff had seven loan signings and this cannot have helped to build togetherness in the team. It really showed in the second half when they lost heart.

ZacNaloen You're wrong on Karacan and correct on the rest.

Karacan causes the opposition to make mistakes by putting pressure on, he's not a big tackler, but that's not his game and that's why we were unbalanced until we brought Ledge in this season.

He's doing the job that James Harper used to do - and got a lot of stick for. He harrasses the opponents into mistakes and that doesn't mean he always has to touch the ball to do it.

pre Season against Farnborough, Noel Hunt was sat a few rows behind me and I could hear him cheering Shaun Cummings on every time he had the ball - I really felt then that as a team they are a tight unit.
