I think the board appears to have more STGs because, very often, they are more outspoken. Hoping volume and quantity can overpower logic and evidence.

Best 10 years for the club ever. Still likely to be competing in the top half next season if not nailed on promotion certs. Far bigger club than we were 20 years ago. Etc.

I think it's more to do with the fact that people will be more vocal when they are annoyed than when they are content.

As the Radio Berks phone-in always shows, far more people ring in after a defeat than after a win or draw.

That the last ten years have not been successful, great, etc (especially by the standards of the first 125 years) is beyond dispute. I just think that, at some time in the future, SJM will screw this club. I have no faith in anyone these days (Met Police, etc, etc). That's why I'm an STG.

Where's the option for 'having a balanced opinion and not having to have the blinkers on constantly'?

Why would you need to know that? Or is it for someone else?

generally im only compelled towards total positivity by the percieved overwhelming negativity on the board.
this poll makes me realise im already in the majority, and dont need to be quite so relentlessly positive any more.

The former. (Plus I'd be less suspicious if he came out and said the loans he gave the club aren't really loans, they're donations ala a benefactor.)

He'll make his money - for sure. But in a unique way, through the sale of the club. That's the only way he can actually realise his investment. This is an in-dpeth analysis of this on The Tilehurst End : http://thetilehurstend.co.uk/2011/03/31/how-to-make-a-small-fortune-from-football-part-one/

Your opinions are so lolzworthy I almost died of laughter at the irony overload. Every time you or Ian Roflyal disagree with me it validates my opinion.

then i shall invalidate it by agreeing with you!

I love it when the STGs post their stuff about how bad a state the club's in because, at least for the last ten years or so, they've been totally wrong. They say stuff like JM's got no ambition and wants the club to fail. If that's true then he's walking a very fine line as we've been successful, or very close to it, for as long as these people can remember. I suppose they think that one day they will be right and we will fail miserably then they can say 'I told you so!!' to the majority of supporters and pretend that it was only them who had the 'real' knowledge about what goes on at the club. Of course some of are just obnoxious arseholes.

I fall into neither camp. My gripe has been the bollocks spewing forth from SJM about ambition and determination. Just look at the crap he came out with after the play off final defeat. If only he would STFU and concentrate on keeping the club on an even keel instead of falsely raising the expectation levels of supporters.

He hasn't done badly in the last 10 years or so though, has he?
2001/02 promotion from Div 2
2002/03 Div 1 playoffs
2003/04 9th in Div 1 (3 points behind playoffs)
2004/05 7th in Div 1 (3 points behind playoffs)
2005/06 promotion from Div 1 (record no of points)
2006/07 8th in PL (1 point behind Europe)
2007/08 relegated from PL on goal difference
2008/09 Championship playoffs
2009/10 9th in Championship - after the worst start to a season in living memory
2010/11 Championship playoffs.

Now, some people will say that that's not a successful period. Let them think that if it makes them happy.

He can spout whatever bollox he wants as far as I'm concerned, and when he talks about ambition, I believe he tells the truth!!

Not totally unexpected result? Most people (RTGs?) do something in the hope (but not always expectation) that it will give them pleasure. Of course there are a few masochists (STGs) in the world who prefer pain but personally I prefer to only inflict that on myself once a year (usually last game of the season) rather than continuously through the winter...

He only raises the expectations of people like you, who by now should know how the club is run. We are determined to make it back to the Premier League. We are ambitious about how the club can grow on and off the pitch. But we'll do it our way and take our time over it.

When Rodgers took over Madj said he wanted a three year plan to get promotion. We're only just entering year three and we had an awful first half of year one with a managerial switch. McDermott is essentially entering year two considering his first half season was an exercise in damage limitation and forcing the club into a U-turn up the table away from relegation. And in (effective) year one we made the play off final and were competitive in it.
