No Fixed Abode Conner Wickham.

Maggots and little fish... We didn't let Wickham go!! His parents moved to East Anglia.

Now your facts when trying to be a smart arse.

As for the effect that it had on the team, it has to be Sidwell. Did a lot of nasty, dirty work, did box to box and weighed in with a good share of goals. Bit harsh to suggest that we let him go though.

Sidders obviously although I don't think he was "let go" (mind you, that phrase applies more to him than Gylfi, Shane or Doyle)

We've not "let go" any of the players mentioned, we've sold them.

In terms of players "let go" I'd say Ahmet Rifat

Obviously depends on how we approach the term 'let go'. I'd say that for a team like Chelsea to take a punt on Sidwell is persuasive, as well as the fantastic season we had with him in our first season. There is more to come from Sig, but just because he commanded our highest fee doesn't make him a better player that Sid. Doyle is a worker, a good worker and deserves his career in the Prem. However, he isn't quite up there with Sid. Kitson [or even Shorey] is just too much of a Kant for me to objectively evaluate him, good player though.

Wanna go down that avenue and could say Theo Walcott!

Under our books or so? Or perhaps I've just believed the myths, nonetheless, if true then wowza.

Gordons Cumming
RoyalBlue I'll go for Doyle at present but I reckon Long will soon eclipse him by quite some way.

Before he had played his first game for West Brom, one BBC correspondent went on record as saying that he reckons West Brom had got the steal of the season signing him for the price that they did. I reckon he could well be right so I hope we got a decent sell on clause as part of the deal. Meantime, West Brom look set to get a damn good return on their significant investment.

Don't forget Long was on the last year of his contract. I think Reading have done well.

Seems we haven't now. According to Madejski the figure is nothing like as high as that quoted in the media amd even that was a steal.

This is not the best player while at Reading. This is the best player.

Who else has played every game for this new side, played exclusively against Man Utd and Chelsea and scored 2 in 2?
At this moment, it can only be Shane Long.

But Kevin Doyle is also on fire and is now one of the hottest properties in the premierleague. When he moves clubs it will be for the largest fee ever paid out for a Reading or an ex-Reading talent. (Currently held by Connor Wickham)

Sigurdsson scored 9 Bundesliga goals last season but didn't break into a team that finished 5 places off relegation and has yet to be on the bench this season. He is clearly going to be a special player but I think he made the wrong move to a small time club where his development will be impeded.

Sidwell and Shorey were perhaps the most talented but have gone on to be relative failures in footballing terms. Its early days for Long but any Prem manager would spend big for Doyle, whereas Sidwell and Shorey were available for loans to anyone.

Wickham has yet to do anything beyond be expensive and score a handful in the championship, Simon Cox and James Henry have done well after leaving us, Glenn Little went on to play against European Champions AC Milan at Pompey, but barely did anything.

So for me the best player is Kevin Doyle. But Shane is hard on his heels and it may yet be the sig.
